It Must Be A Coincidence – Nash Grier vs. Taylor Caniff vs. Shawn Mendes Imagine for Elena

“I totally called her before you!” I heard Taylor’s Indiana accented voice boom above the others.

“But I told you guys I thought she was pretty even before you guys knew who she was!” Nash yelled.

“But she obviously likes me more than both of you!” Shawn screeched.

“NO!” Taylor and Nash forced at Shawn.

I stared at my shoes, a big smile on my face. I leaned against the door, listening to my three best friends’ argument. It was hilarious. I wonder who they were talking about?

“I’m so much nicer to her,” Shawn said, trying to be rational.

“I’m the one who took her to the dance last year! Ever think about that?” Nash yelled.

Wait… Nash took me to Homecoming last year. It must be a coincidence. There are lots of dances at our school.

“Come on, guys,” Taylor said. “I made her cookies for her birthday!”

Taylor made me cookies for my birthday… but he also made then for Leigh and Skylynn. So it must be a coincidence.

“I bet they were terrible,” Nash spat.

They were terrible… haha, but I still love Taylor.

“Yeah, I bet they were. I sang for her on her birthday anyways,” said Shawn.

Shawn sang for me on my birthday. It must be a coincidence. Right?

“I brought her up on stage at Magcon and had the WHOLE CROWD sing for her! Hah!” said Nash, laughing as if he was winning at the argument.

Nash brought me onstage at Magcon. There were no other girls there other than the fans…

Were they talking about me?

Were they fighting over me?

“I told you guys I loved Elena when I first met her. Therefore I have dibs,” Nash said.

They’re talking about me.

I pushed the door open and stood there, facing my three best friends. My mouth was slightly open in shock, eyes wide. I raised my eyebrows and crossed my hands behind my back.

“Uh… hey guys,” I said.

The boys all tried to cover it up at the same time.

“How much did you hear?”

“Oh, my gosh,”

“Elena…”

“I’m sorry!”

“You’re just so pretty!”

“Damnit, Nash!”

“Have you been listening?”

“Guys! Guys, guys,” I tried to get them to shut up. “I heard it all,” I said.

“Oh, gosh,” Shawn sighed, running a hand through his hair and staring down at the floor. Taylor shoved his hands in his pockets and avoided my gaze. Nash stared straight at me.

“Well you’ve got to pick someone,” Nash said.

“Yeah, you can’t have all of us,” said Shawn.

“Yeah, pick someone,” Taylor added, agreeing with the guys.

“Guys, I…” I stuttered, unsure what to do. I already know who I loved, but how could I tell them in front of each other? That was just cruel.

“I promise not to get mad if it’s not me,” Shawn said, looking up at me with his big brown eyes.

“Yeah, me either,” said Nash.

“Me either,” Taylor said.

“Fine…” I started. I didn’t want to tell them, but I guess I had no choice now. “I… well… I mean… I’ve really like… Nash,” I said his name under my breath, “for a long time.”

And Nash came and kissed me.

Amen.
