Breathing a sigh of relief, Taylor closes her eyes and sinks into the plush mattress. She closes her eyes and rids herself of the day’s previous problems and focuses on the humming coming from the bathroom.

A few seconds later, Ed falls onto the bed and Taylor rolls over to face him. She smiles briefly and then wraps her slender arms around him, pulling him in for a hug. He squeezes her tightly and then pulls back.

“I love you, you know that, right?” he whispers.

She nods her head and kisses the corner of his mouth, her way of returning his words.

“I’m sorry you had a bad day,” he apologizes, although Taylor doesn’t know why.

“S’okay,” she mumbles into his chest, “Wasn’t your fault.”

“I know, but I hate seeing you this stressed and I wish I could help.”

“You already have,” she smiles, “You being here with me is enough to make any day better.”

“I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. But now, you need to get some sleep.”

“Yeah,” she whispers, already almost fully unconscious.

Ed pulls her even closer and Taylor rests her head on his chest, breathing him in. She knows that no matter how bad her day is, as long as she has Ed to come home to, she’ll be happy. He’s the one thing in her life that makes sense, and she knows that she’ll never lose him. She’s suddenly so overwhelmed with love for the man holding her and the last words to escape her lips before she falls asleep are:

 “I love you.”
