24: Overflow

Suddenly, a bracelet worn by Professor Perch glowed with a bright crimson light. A robotic voice sounded out from the bracelet.

"All Enchanters and Fortifiers within the academy are to strengthen the academy's defenses and set up formations. The Headmaster's orders" the voice said before the bracelet stopped glowing.

"Before, an Overflow occurred but we managed to take care of it without the enchanters' participation and the Shade formation. We don't have the ressurection system right now though so we can only go out'" he sighed and stood up.

He was feeling grief since the academy was filled with students unprepared for such horrors. Although he was just a character inside this game, he still had feelings and his own thoughts.

"Let's hurry up. The monsters are only a few kilometers away from us right now. With their speed, we still have a half a day's amount of time to set up enchantment circles around the academy." the professor said and stood up.

The three knew the gravity of the situation and despite feeling nervous, they still followed the old professor.

Currently, there are no more than fifty enchanters in the academy. Most of them were students with littlw knowledge about enchantments but they still chose to participate.

"The three of you can already draw double circle enchantments. Since we're an academy of Magi, we heavily rely on mana to fight. Your enchantments would be mana recovery fields while we would take are of the buffing circles" Professor Perch instructed them before he joined together with the other professors.

The three immediately went to the station to take the materials and spread out.

Creating mana recovery fields was exhausting task but with the help of multiple people, there were dozens of mana recovery fields set up all over the academy, both in and outside.

Xian was right beside him. He too helped set up the enchantments despite being new to the job.

At the stone walls, some players joined together to erect barriers. Another group of them applied some kind of buffing spells on the walls that gave them a mettalic sheen.

They were to be Barrier and Fortifier sub-class magis.

Half a day later, the rumbling of the earth can be felt. There was a large dust of clouds at the distance.

All the players turned their heads with nervousness and resolution. A few of them had unwilling expressions as they were forced to participate in the battle. This concerned the lives of everyone here after all. Everyone who didn't participated would be thrown out of the academy.

As they approached, the players seemed that the army of the overflow were divided into three groups with their own leaders leading them.

With Kian's eyesight, he was able to identify that they were divided into the three ranks of Magi, a very terrifying sight.

They stepped forward and their identities were revealed to be a Magician Troll, Barbaric Bullish Axeman and a hundred Gloomy Sorcerer.

They were the leaders of the monsters here.

The Gloomy Sorcerer looked very human and its expression was also that of a human. It even revealed a look of disdain at them before looking at the two leaders beside him.

Kian was very surprised to see it mumbling some words to the leaders of the Hunting Areas.

'It can talk?!'

As if reading what's on his mind, Professor Perch who stood behind spoke.

"Any monster will start developing intelligence when they reach the grand warlock rank. The monsters capabilities can even be determined while looking at their resemblance to humans. Obviously, the Gloomy Sorcerer has a very high potential and is also already at the Cosmage Level" He explained.

Kian revealed a look of shock.

This was basically the same as the demon kings in xuanhuans and xianxia he read before. Evey monster that looks a bit more human are a lot more intelligent and powerful than other monsters of the same level.

"All Enchanters who can't fight,pull back and hide behind the walls. Wait for further instructions inside" a professor said.

Only a few enchaters stayed outside the academy. Kian, Shawn and Bea were one of them. They each had their own reasons for staying in the dangerous battlefield.

The monsters numbered into thousands. Anyone would be crushed to death if they stood in the middle of the army.

However, the vanguard were mostly the acolyte level monsters that were merely used as cannon fodders by the stronger monsters.

With a command from a few players, hundreds of spells flew and landed on the monsters, instantly deciminating them. Even a few players with melee type weapons engaged in direct battle.

In a different area outside the academy, a large and deep trench opened up, immediately swallowing monsters who stepped on them to their deaths.

Ten level sixty Drill Witches  appeared mid-air on their floating drills ans seemed to be preparing some spells.

Suddenly, a small tornado made of sand appeared on their drills and filled the trenches with sand. The monsters quickly managed to recover.

Kian also fired a few skills and since he was in party with Shawn and Bea, his levels quickly rose .

'My levels went up to level forty five. Incredible!' He celebrated inside and couldn't help but smile.

"Boss, it's best if you immediately buy a Mystic and Spiritual Potion in the market. It's better if the potion is a Mid-Ranked one. That will ensure that no matter how difficult the second part of the Ranking Up quest is, it will be easily accomplished." Xian spoke beside him.

Kian nodded as an agreement.

"Right. Since I leveled up do fast due to the monsters that I killed here, I wonder if the quest will be hard" A bad feeling rose inside him which he tried to supress.

He forwarded his request to go to the market to Professor Perch who easily gave hi permission.

Kian went to the market to buy a Mystic and Spiritual of both Mid-Ranked quality. He also bought a lot of Health and Mana Potions just to ensure his survival.

When he felt that everything was taken care of, he returned to the battlefield in oder to increase his levels.
