23: Army

"Boss, it's here!" Xian's voice that resembled a child just entering the adolescent period shouted from the direction where he disappesees into.

He soon came into Kian's view. Behind it, a cloud of dust can be seen. There was a three meter tall boat with gigantic tusks and horns all over his body chasing behind the cat.

"Another tough one? Tsk!" Kian clicked his tongue.

"They're the only level fifty monsters around here after all" Xian also had a dissatisfied expression on his cat face.

Just a week ago, they noticed that only higher leveled monsters remained in the place. Moreover, they were even the hard to kill ones since each of them had health points more than twice those of normal bosses.

Although their speed and attacks were low,  they were almost impossible to kill. That's why Kian had to rely on the Mana recovering Enchantment circles or his mana wouldn't be able to stand a long fight against such monsters.

"Well, it's better than nothing" Kian said and backed off as the boar turned its attention towards him.

As he dodged the attacks with his above average agility and dexterity, he also opened the status screen to view the boss monster's information.

Description:

A large boar with a lot of sharp horns guarantees to poke a hole into any object. It loves to dig a large burrow and dive on it for fun.

Kian eyed the boarding after he read the description. It was indeed a horny boar with dozens of horns stuck all over its body.

"What does it need it for anyway?!" Kian pulled out his pistol and screamed as he fired a Bullet I.

The body of the Horny Boar was large enough that he didn't even need to focus to aim properly. He didn't fire any Adhesive Shot since a crowd control skill that small would have no effect on a large monster.

"Phantom Bullet!" he gripped the pistol with two hands and fired a small ball of dark energy. If one looked closely, it had a mettalic sheen that was quit hidden due to the darkness.

The Horny Boar which originally still quite lively screamed. The HP gauge above its head was reduced by white a large amount. It actually took more than ten percent of its current health points!

The bullet he fired just now called Phantom Bullet was a hybrid once again between the Metal and Dark Element. With the Shade attribute of the dark element, the bulelt could pass through thick armor as a shadow and then rematerialize inside the soft innards of the monster.

Kian fired off once again mutliple Phantom Bullets. However, his face visibly turned pale after this. Obviously, the concentration needed to create a Patrol Bullet was too high together with the high mana consumption.

He was about to fire off one more attack when the monster finally got a sense of danger when the pistol was fired at it once again.

With a defeaning roar, it slightly bend its four thick legs and did an unbelievable two meter tall jump. When it fell back to the ground, a wave of dust formed as they were thrown away by the force. The trees were also quite disturbed.

Kian was sent into to the air with no choice. The force disabled him from stabilizing himself from the air. Moreover, he even felt a little dizzy.

When he fell back down, the Boar was already headed towards him with its sharp tusks aiming to take away his life.

"Boss!" Xian screamed and tried to save him but it was too late.

Since he was still unable to move, the attack threw him away into the air. A hole was pierced into his abdomen and activated the status effect, bleeding.

Kian's HP was down to forty percent and was still dropping a bit more. He gritted his teeth and took a health potion

The Horny Boar was obviously not satisfied that they puny ant before it still didn't die. It wanted to attack once again when a dark ball similar to Kian's Phantom Bullet appeared.

The attacks from Xian was clearly not as strong as his Master's but it still dealt quite a bit of damage. He kept firing until the Horny Boar, enraged by the cat turned its gaze at him.

Suddenly, the horns on the Horny Boar's body started to shake. Kian and Xian paled as they instantly knew what the boss was about to do.

"Xian hide!" Kian screamed and rwaxued out his hand.

He didn't know if his plan would work but he had to try it. Xian tried to fly away as far as he can as the horns werw about to be launched.

Suddenly, the boss stopped activating the skill and instead started to rampage. It fell to the ground. A few meters away from it, Kian also fell but with a satisfied smile on his face.

The boss monster gave a loud scream before it finally stopped moving.

"Liquid Metal can indeed srill be used even when I haven't applied the it to the Phantom Bullets" he sighed and laid on the ground with a relieved face.

"Xian, are you okay?" he called out.

"Yes boss! Are you okay?" Xian crawled out from his hiding spot and flew over to Kian.

"Just can't move" Kian responded and was about to close his eyes when he felt the intense shaking of the earth.

He was alerted and despite still feeling weak, he lifted his body and shot his gaze to the area where the trees were slowly collapsing.

After the culprit of the shaking of the earth was revealed, Kian's pupils contracted to the size of pins.

Ahead of him was an army composed of monsters from the lowest levels to the high levelled monsters. They were the monsters that strangely disappeared for more than a week ago.

With a pale face, Kian turned around and gave it his all to run because if he stayed there just for a few more seconds, he definitely wouldn't leave a corpse.
