Adrien POV
I walked into the room to see Marinette looking at her desk. I watched as she put an odd-shaped box back under the desk. She looked relaxed, calmer. Her hair back to its original length. She twirled around to face me. A scatter of blush lined her face, "how do I look?" For some reason when she asked me that gave me a sense of belonging, something that I was used to, something I had finally gotten after years. "Stunning," I began to talk walking towards her, my eyes never breaking contact. "Gorgeous, beautiful, spectacular. You look purrfect."She giggled as I took her hand. I continued to make more puns, "pawsitively adorable. A greek god even."She peered at her phone to check the time. "It's 7hr36 Chat," she pushed me away by pressing on my nose with her finger, similar to how Ladybug did, "I have to get to school."With that, she grabbed her bag and placed a kiss on my cheek. It was something I had only felt in my childhood, a sense of love. I smiled and let go of her hand, not before placing a kiss on the back of it. I grabbed my baton and leaped out the window while saying a last goodbye. I felt as if that day was going to be a great one.~~~Marinette POV I walked out of the bakery in shambles, in my head all I could hear was: did I just kiss him? Did he enjoy it? Why did I do that? Oh my god! Bouncing off that energy, I walked to school happily. At that point, I had forgotten the incident that happened the day prior. All I could think of was Chat Noir. The way he looked, the leather of his suit clinging to his well-built body. The way his blond hair was messy but still looked put together. How his hands were a few inches bigger than mine. By the time I realized it, I was outside of my classroom. I opened the door to see Alya looking guilty. "I'm so sorry Marinette. I am so so sorry!" She wrapped her arms around me in a dramatic matter. A small laugh slipped out of my lips, "it's fine Alya. You didn't know it was going to be like that. I'm not mad Alya." Pulling her off and subsequently taking her hand I lead her to our seats. "Though we have to talk about what you did, it's not that easy to get away with it." I chuckled as she looked like a sad fox. Alya gripped my hand a bit tighter as she began to explain herself, "I just thought if I gave you a little push that you'd fall into his arms. I wasn't expecting you two to kiss. It was a total bitch move, and I apologize for my actions." "It was a bitch move Alya," I pouted before continuing, "but I understand why, after all, I've liked him for so long, that I didn't realize how he felt about me. It's not your fault he didn't like me." Alya seemed a bit happier as we continued to talk about the situation. A few minutes later she began to ask, "so why do you seem happy today? I thought you'd still be upset over yesterday." I sighed and looked down at my purse, there was a single red rose next to Tikki. Pulling it out, I muttered to myself, "someone came over and cheered me up." She looked shocked as I held the rose with a fondness. "Spill it Marinette, who was he?" She coo-ed as she began to pry deeper into the revelation. With a wink, I spoke, "not telling Alya!" The room became lighter as we resolved the issue. She prodded me on the rose and who gave it to me. I didn't budge. Adrien walked into the room, his eyes focused on mine. I froze up, not due to nerves like I used to, but I was scared of what he would say. He walked up to me, his eyes were unwavering. It was unnerving. Alya hopped up in my defense, "hey Adrien! It wasn't her fault okay? I pushed her. If you're gonna do something, take it up with me." I felt a little happy she was willing to fight for me, I placed my hand on her arm to signal a retreat. "What do you want Agreste?" I asked the coldness in my voice surprised everyone, even myself. He looked around the classroom, then his attention was focused on the scarlet rose. "Who gave you the rose?"I scoffed and crossed my arms, the rose laying on the desk. "What? Am I not allowed to get roses from people? Am I that disgusting Agreste?" It felt unnatural to call him that, but it felt good to talk back to him. I felt powerful at that moment. Adrien began to stammer, "n-no I was just wondering if you-" Cutting him off, Alya sat down and began to chat with me, ignoring him entirely. I pitied him, even though it wasn't his fault, I couldn't help but feel upset. Not at him, but myself. The empty feeling that I was trying to fill with liking him. Before I knew it the class flung by and the last bell rang out. I began to get up to hang out with Alya. For some odd reason, I didn't see Nino. Walking over to the door, I was stopped by Adrien. He took my hand and ran me out of the door to the lockers. He sat down and urged me to sit with him. Clearing his throat he began to speak, "I didn't mean to make you feel bad Marinette. Kissing you like that was a mistake, I'm sorry.""Why are you apologizing? I should apologize, I was the one that kissed you. You shouldn't apologize for actions that aren't your own." I murmured, everyone was apologizing that day. He let off a sigh of relief, "anyway, I was wondering if you would, uh." He took a deep breath. "Go on a date with me?" Stunned, I looked at him with bewilderment. "What?" That was the only word I could say. He reiterated his question, I was blown off my feet. The person I had finally gotten over, after so long, asked me on a date. It was honestly a confusing moment. "Sure?" I asked, not realizing what I was saying.Adrien lit up, a smile filling his face. He jolted up and ran out of the room. Leaving me a little confused. I went through the motions throughout the day. Walking into my room I was greeted with a familiar redhead. He rested his head on his hand and was flipping through one of my sketchbooks. The slim male turned to face me. One of his hands was still holding my sketchbook. "Hey Marin," he smiled as he relaxed a bit more, "your parents let me in." He placed down the book and got up to greet me. "I didn't tell you, but you look beautiful today."There was a twinkle in his eye when he said that. I giggled and went in to give him a hug. "How are you and Marc? It's been so long since I've seen you!" Nathaniel laughed and hugged me back, "we're doing great," he let go of me, "I saw what happened with you and Adrien, and I am so sorry about coming here so late."I groaned and laid down on my couch, "everyone is apologizing for something they shouldn't apologize for today. It's kind of getting annoying." Lounging around I got carried away and listened as Nathaniel gushed about Marc. Checking the time, I noticed that it was thirty minutes before we hung out, Adrien and I that is. Complaining I told Nathaniel about the situation and rushed him out of the room. After he left I looked over to my closet. I was dumbstruck, a sense of worry filled my head. What do I wear? Whispering to myself, I didn't even notice a certain black cat slipping into the room and creeping up behind me. A pair of strong semi-muscular arms wrapped themselves around me. Purring in my ear I heard a familiar voice say, "so what are you doing purrincess?" Reaching my hand over, I gave him a pat on the top of his head, "I'm hanging out with someone today, and I don't know what to wear."He let go of me and in a flash, moved in front of the closet. "Let me choose then," he tilted his head backward to look at me, "after all, you do look purrfect today."With a smile, I scoffed and went over to the couch once again. "I don't really know why he asked me to go out with him anyway, I really thought he was disgusted with me." Letting off a heavy breath, I heard Chat murmur something."Why do you think that princess?" He asked, his hand tightly gripped one of the dresses in my closet, "how are you disgusting?"Shrugging my shoulders I sank a bit deeper in the lounge. "I don't really know, all I know is that when I kissed him, he looked disgusted."He pondered, "what if he wasn't disgusted? Maybe he was shocked or something." Chat pulled out a shorter formal dress. The pastel blue fabric laid out the foundations for a gradient to dark grey. Chat looked at it for a while and shook his head. The dress felt familiar, but I couldn't remember wearing it. Searching through the cabinet, he continued to look at the clothing."No way Kitty-" I stopped to realize what I had just called him. He perked up and turned towards me, a large grin on his face, "did you just call me kitty?" A playful look flashed across his eyes. Flustered, I covered my face with a pillow, "n-no. I didn't." The embarrassment was suffocating, but after a few moments the pillow lifted up from my face. His face was close to mine, a blush scattered on his face. "How about this dress?" He lifted himself up and showed me a dress. It was something I made myself. It wasn't a difficult dress to make, but I was proud of myself nonetheless. It was a pink day dress with embroidered roses lining the dress trim. To separate the skirt from the top portion of the dress there was an elaborate cluster of red roses, they almost seemed real. The roses were a pain to make, but it paid off well. Chat held out dress without a word. His eyes focused on mine. I couldn't help but feel a sense of attraction to him. I stood up from the couch and walked closer to him, my hand resting on his, only the fabric between us. My head tilted up as he took his free hand and lifted my chin up. "God, Marinette. You are beautiful." I said nothing as I moved my face closer to his, my eyes closing as I approached him. I felt the softness of his lips press against mine. It was sickly sweet as I felt him drop the dress on the floor to place his hands on my hips. Pulling me closer I fell harder and harder into the kiss. I cracked my mouth open a little bit and felt as his heat seeped into mine, my arms moved to wrap around his neck. The heated passionate embrace was only interrupted by a moment of breath between us. His heavy breath caressed my ear as he pulled away. "I have to go," Chat looked glumly at the thought, "thank you Marinette. I lo-" Chat stopped for a moment before continuing, "I love you."We stood for a long while as both of us didn't want to part. But, he was the first one gone. I blinked, and he had disappeared. I looked down at my shaking hand, what I was feeling wasn't fear, but something else. Something I couldn't name.Picking up the dress from the floor I brought it to my lips, resting a soft kiss on the fabric before heading into the bathroom to freshen up.Adrien POV I rushed through the streets of Paris, my mind going a million km per hour. I had kissed the woman I loved. The person who made me feel happy. "Marinette," I whispered as I landed on the floor of my room. De-transforming, I saw Plagg fly up to meet my eyes. A smug look on his face. "Wow, Adrien." That was all he said before scurrying off, most likely to find a wheel of camembert. Picking out a nice outfit from my closet I made my way to my bathroom to change. When met with the bathroom mirror, a flash of Chat Noir appeared instead of myself. One thing went into my consciousness. Did she love Chat Noir or Adrien Agreste? Of course she, at that point, loved only Chat Noir. Shaking the image from my mind I changed and got ready for our date. I looked at the golden watch on my wrist, 19hr 36, opening the door of my room I was greeted with Nathalie tapping away on her tablet. She looked up and then back at the tablet. In a stern but slow voice she spoke, "Are you ready for your appointment with Ms. Bourgeois?" Swallowing my spit I spoke up, "yes, at the park, correct?" A swallowing pit filled my stomach as I lied to her. Someone who I trusted with my life, but I couldn't trust her with this one thing. She nodded and waved me to follow her down the stairs and to the front door. I was greeted by my father standing there. His piercing gaze jabbing through my body. I was scared at that moment. Terrified even. His normal cold tone broke the silence, "Have-" he hesitated for a moment, "have fun, Adr- no. Have fun son." That genuinely made me happy, I hugged my father and made my way to the car. I had hoped that he'd convert back to his former self. The park was quiet, a little empty. I sat there, waiting for the car to drive off before making my way to the bakery. Opening the door, the smell of fresh pastries filled my nose. It was blissful heaven. I walked over into the back of the store. Marinette's parents looked at me, her father looked especially angry. "Why are you here? Are you the one taking my daughter on a date?" I was threatened by the man's large stature."Yes," I held my head up tall and stuck out a hand, "Adrien Agreste, we've met before.""I remember," he grunted out, he kind of reminded me of Gorilla, "I'm happy to see it's you, at least it's not that boy Kim. He was such a bad influence on her." I was confused, I never knew Marinette and Kim were in a relationship, I felt a tad jealous. "So where is Marin?"Tom smiled and called out for her, the pattering of feet running down the stairs attracted my attention. I watched as the small girl walked down the stairs, her hair fell to her shoulders extenuating her tiny frame. The swish of her dress skirt was hypnotizing. She was beautiful, even more than Ladybug. By her side was her usual purse, it swayed as she bounced down the stairs. At that moment it felt as if time had stopped. The way her hair jumped up and down as her small feet danced down the stairs to the soft smile on her face entranced me. I felt my mouth go slack as she made her way in front of me. Shaking my head and clearing my throat I began to stutter, "sh-shall we?" I asked, extending my hand for her to grab. I could see her giggle to herself. With a wide grin, she whispered to herself, "just like Chat." She placed her hand on top of mine, allowing me to pull it to my lips and place a soft kiss on her knuckles. She gasped a little before replying. "So where are we going?" Her head tilted to the right a bit and her hair brushed across her shoulder. Letting go of her hand, I brushed off the hair on her shoulder and answered, "you'll see on the way Marinette."After saying our goodbyes to her parents, I lead Marinette towards the Lover's Bridge. There was a small restaurant nearby that catered to couples. I made reservations beforehand to avoid waiting in a line. By then it was nearly 8 p.m. in American time. We were led to our outside seats, overlooking the Seine River. The soft lights from the city illuminated our menus as we spoke about mundane topics. Though with her they never felt mundane. The lights perfectly framed her smile as she spoke, it felt as if the accident had never happened in the first place. A waiter made a waltz to our table and asked for our orders. I watched her lips as she began to ask about some of the food options. Seeing her have a simple chat with the waiter about food made me smile. I quickly ordered a starter for both of us, a country-style pate, and a perigourdine salad with smoked duck breast. After a moment of contemplation, she decided on a simple western steak dish. The waiter turned to me, I ordered a roasted chicken breast with a honey ginger sauce, accompanied by a potato gratin. Praising my choice, as quick as he came he had rushed off to place in the order. We held pleasant conversations between the two of us, about life, how we were, how school was. But it never felt boring or dull. It was normal, something I hadn't had in a long time. We were served our food and chattered about during the meal, ending up with a nice dessert shared between the two of us. I paid the bill as Marinette got up and took my hand. It felt like an actual date. Not like the arranged shopping trips with Chloe. Taking her hand, I pulled her out to look over the bridge. Turning to look at her, I grabbed her other hand. "Marinette?" I asked, my voice feeling faint."Yeah, Adrien?" She replied, her eyes focused on mine. I could have swum in those bright blue eyes. They reflected the moon on the ocean. Clearing my throat I spoke up, "Marinette, I-" A loud screeching noise came from behind me. The familiar and annoying voice screamed out, "Adrikins! There you are! Come on! We have to get to our date!" Chloe ran up to me, her arms wrapped around mine, slapping Marinette's hand out of mine. Marinette whispered, "you had a date with Chloe?" I stuttered trying to explain myself, "well I uh-"Cutting me off Chloe spoke, "What are you doing here trash Marinette? Are you trying to hit on Adrien? How rude, go, scootch." She flicked her wrist and tried to usher Marinette away. "You douchebag," I heard Marinette say to me, "I really thought that you just wanted to hang out and have fun.""Marinette, no I really wanted to-" once again I was cut off by Chloe, but this time it wasn't by words but physical action.A loud slap was heard throughout the Parisian night. Marinette's head was knocked over to face the side. A red slap mark on her cheek. Once that happened, it felt like the end. Chloe slashed at her, her nails ripping through the neckline of Marinette's dress. Marinette still wasn't looking at Chloe. It was terrifying to see. I watched as Chloe grabbed Marinette by the hair on the back of her head. I grabbed onto Chloe and pulled her closer to me in an attempt to stop her from lashing out at Marinette. Letting go of Chloe, I looked over to Marinette, I saw a purple and black ladybug landed on her shoulder as Marinette turned to face Chloe in silence. Something sparked in her eye. She grabbed Chloe by the neck, an unfamiliar rage filled her eyes. I felt helpless. I tried to pry her arm away from Chloe, but she was undoubtedly strong. She seemed to be only squeezing the sides of her neck rather than her trachea. Chloe writhed around in an attempt to escape, but Marinette picked her up and began to breathe in and out, what seemed like an attempt to cool down. She let out a large breath and let Chloe go. Chloe collapsed onto the ground, her legs shaking in fear. It felt like the perfect moment for another Akuma. But, it never came. Marinette looked scared, the ladybug fluttered away into the wind. Her hands were shaking, it looked like she was thinking about what she had just done. With a gripping of her hand into a fist she spoke, "I had a good time Adrien." Her voice was colder, almost empty, "but, next time you play a joke on someone, don't involve me.""I can explain Marin," I softly said, walking over to her to take hold of her hand once again. "Save it Agreste. Though, I really must commend you for your acting. Turns out you're not another pretty face," she gulped and continued on, "I genuinely enjoyed tonight, but I think this is it Agreste. I thought we were friends."I yelled out as she began to walk away, "but I love you!" I screamed out, my voice echoing in the wind. "Too bad," she softly whispered as she walked off. My heart shattered into pieces at that moment. The girl I loved was walking away from me. What else could I have done at that moment, I regret not reaching out to her. Not running after her, trying to reconcile what we once had. I had messed it all up. I turned to Chloe, reaching my hand out to help her up. I hadn't even noticed as a tear fell down my face.
