We found them sitting in the shade of a huge maple. "Alana! Irene!" We shouted racing over. "What are you two doing here?" Alana asked. "Derek is making us officially his family. We even got both queens Blessings." Darin said. "That's wonderful! Oh nevin what happened to your arm?" Irene asked running her light fingers over my bandage. "Steelwings. They stole one of poppytail's eggs. The red one. We helped stop them from taking more." I explained. "Wow you both are so brave." Alana said softly. "After that sandrunner mothered nevin even carried him by the back of his shirt home as we were down the beach a ways and wouldn't let the kings riders near him or me." Darin said laughing. "Didn't you protest that?" Irene asked as Alana laughed. "I tried but she told me it was useless. It was the first time I heard her voice. It was like melted chocolate so smooth and gentle." I said my face turning red. "You guys can talk to sandrunner! Most dragons never talk to anyone outside of dragons or their riders. Except the queen and king dragons." Irene said shocked. "Darin nevin come on time to go home!" We heard Derek calling for us. "We better go." I said "yea before sandrunner hunts us down." Darin said as we waved goodbye
