S P E C I E S   O F   L I G H T

Mother Earth watches

From her seat below

And winces in pain

As souls are all sowed

For on the great plain

A battle begins

Man versus man

No other stuck in

The great balls of death

They shoot at each other

And they finally hit

And man's rule is over

The world sighs in relief

And goes on with life

For none is more stupid

Than the species of "light"

S L A U G H T E R E D

My species is dwindling, my habitat flattened

To make space for others not meant for the land

I cry out in pain as my belly is licked

By the tongue of the fire, that makes all us sick

Yet I somehow survive, I've weathered the storm

To only shrink back in fear from the species of doom

A sharp ax is dug, far into my heart

And I groan in pain as my body is part

At long last I fall, and am then dragged away

To be made into houses, for the killers to stay

P O I S O N

I am the air,

Source of breath, food of plants

And yet you poison me with what you deem necessary?

I am the sea,

Keeper of secrets, host of the unknown

And yet you poison my creatures, for only a bit of them?

I am the forest,

Thing of beauty, home of living beings,

And yet you poison me and cut me down to make room for something that doesn't grow?

I am the air,

Giver of life, sustainer of your life,

And yet you stand by, watching my complexion darken with poison?

I am the sea,

Fosterer of life, guard of your greatest mysteries,

And yet you let poison from your ships infiltrate my blood?

I am the forest,

Nature's easel, blank canvas painted green and red

And yet you watch me burn and be poisoned, taking innocents with?

I am nature,

And this poison needs a cure.
