Troy Stevens

There she is standing wide eyed as she looks at me. I know her name finally, Samantha, it suits her. I can't tell if her stunned expression is a good thing or a bad one. I'm glad I get to see her again, and not from my bedroom window,

"Well everyone get started and Troy" I turn to Dr. Gibbon as everyone scatters, "Don't get to my lab late again" I nod and follow Samantha to her station. I pull out my lab book and start looking for the apparatus we need.

"Hey, I never thought I would see you again" I say to her as she stoops by the cupboard rummaging through it,

"Yup." She says, in her usual fashion, placing 6 conical flask on the counter top, she awkwardly pushes 3 close to me before turning away. She walks over to another station with fire in her eyes, arguing with one of the girls from the airport, she flips her the bird before coming back to me. We get the rest of apparatus before we begin. There are two procedures The standardization of Oxalic Acid and The standardization using KHP, being the gentleman I am I decide to do Oxalic acid since it is longer,

"Sam, how bout I do Oxalic Acid" now I know her name I am going to use it as much as possible,

"What did you just call me? I'm doing Oxalic acid by the way" she says looking up from reading the procedure,

"I called you Sam, isn't that your name?"

"My name is Samantha so call me that" she says with a squint,

"Sorry Sam-antha" she rolls her eyes and leaves going to the weighing room. She is so cute her extremely large goggles and lab coat she looks like a bug. I grab two beakers and go to collect our liquids, a few girls giggle and whisper as I pass, If only I had that effect on her. She returns handing me a petri dish of KHP, she turns to her burette and sees it is filled, she turns to me and I see a smile out the corner of my eye.

I am well on my way with my titrations two finished, while she is still on her first one watching each drop of liquid drop into the conical flask beneath it. Her phone vibrates and she checks a message before turning and giving her friend the bird once more.

"You okay?" I ask not sure what else I should say,

"Why wouldn't I be?" she replies eyes still watching the slow trickle of drops,

"You're right, you usually look mean unless you're sleeping" I toss back,

"You still think about that? Damn you have no life" she says her eyes finally on me, I can't help but laugh,

"Not every day I encounter a beauty like you" she rolls her eyes, I like seeing her do that. She works meticulously swirling the conical flask until the faint color remains, she scribbles down the reading on the burette and quickly starts the other titration.

"YOU SHOULD BE FINISHED BY NOW!" Dr. Gibbon shouts to the class, "And I need both sets of results before you go" he finishes. Most of the class is gone, just a few other groups, I don't mind waiting, I get to talk to her. I'm doing all the talking, if she says four words to me that's a lot. I watch the sunset, rays of sun shine through the window onto her, her dark brown eyes glow as the sun shines through them. She's perfect even though she probably hates me, and I have no idea why. Chemistry labs are going to be my favorite.

We finish around minutes to 6, all her friends are gone and it is just the two of us, we walk towards the door, her a little ways in front of me. Her pace isn't fast enough to suggest she wants to get away from me and not slow enough to suggest she wants to talk to me. We get outside and she peels her lab coat exposing a red jeans and a pink tank hugging her body smoothly, she turns to me,

"We have to work together for the lab write up, you free tomorrow?" she asks shoving her stuff into her bag,

"I'm free from one to two"

"I have class at one, then I'm free all evening" she says looking at her schedule on her phone,

"I have class at two until three, so three is good?"

"Ok, Fine" she wipes her bag onto her back and walks away quickly, I am still in my lab coat, I drag it off trying to catch up to her,

"Sam!" I shout, she keeps walking, I continue following her as she navigates her way to the lobby, "Hey! Samantha" I feel so stupid shouting her name, I try to get my phone out of my bag when I bump into her knocking her to the floor,

"What the fuck" she shouts from the floor,

"I'm sorry I didn't see you stop" I stoop to help her up but she brushes me off,

"I'm fine. What do you want?" she asks still sitting on the floor, looking a bit comfortable,

"I want your number so we can choose somewhere to meet" I lie rubbing my hand through my dreads, her eyes are fixed on mine, I lick my lips as my eyes drop to hers for a second, they look so inviting,

"You could move?" she says finally looking away from my gaze, I help her up even though she fights it, "Give me your phone" she demands snatching it from me. She adds herself before handing it back to me "Now stop following me" she leaves quickly, I look at my phone 'Sam'.
