Chapter One Hundred & Fourty-Two

"Oh god, no."

"Unfortunately, even he can't help us at this point."

My eyes scanned the pages of her grimoire, where the spells and incantations that would save Rebekah were written. "No. Hell no. You're not doing this, Freya. It's not happening. Go to sleep, and I'll handle it."

"You won't have enough strength on your own," she argued, going to get up from the bed go get the materials she needed, before I stepped right in front of her.

It had turned out that Freya had been poisoned by the Strix. Elijah recognized the poison, a slow-acting one. He said he could get his hands on the cure. Until then, we had to figure out a way to stop Rebekah from turning into a complete and utter psycho. So far, we had the one spell that could allow us to do that, but not even I would be strong enough.

"What about Finn?" I asked, the gears in my head turning faster. "Surely he will know that you would want to say your sister, and he probably hates you and I the least out of all of us."

Freya looked like she was about to argue, but then a pain came back in her head, and she winced. She cradled her forehead, while I handed her a glass of water that had been sitting down on the table. She took a drink, then handed it back to me.

"Are you sure he would say yes?"

"I'm positive that I can convince him," I lied. I was only a little sure. "You need to reset, Freya."

Freya looked at me with uncertainty, but then she nodded slowly. She reached up to her neck and took off the necklace, giving it to me warily.

"Take care of him," she whispered.

I nodded. "Of course. Now go to sleep. When you awake, everything will be alright. I promise."

Hayley and Jackson were right outside the door, and I was relieved that they seemed eager to help.

"Klaus is on his way to get the antidote for Freya. Can you two do something to help me out with Rebekah?"

They both immediately nodded.

"Yeah, what do you need?" Hayley asked.

"A pure silver knife and some white muskroot. Can you two get that? I need to start now, so you must hurry."

They both vanished into thin air, and I sighed a little. I guess that that was their way of saying "We'll be back soon".

The holidays were not the holidays for the Mikaelson family without at least one family member being in mortal danger.

How lovely.

It wasn't really pain that I was feeling, but mores tiredness. It felt as if I was drunk with exhaustion. I hadn't gotten through to Finn yet, but when I finally did, I couldn't deny the relief that I felt.
