Relating

by Anonymous, 17

 Relationship they call it, huh?

Two folks relating to each other, which means they both have a say. Relationships are like scales—if it don’t balance, then it ain’t right, feel me? If two peeps don’t speak, there’s no con¬versation. But don’t over¬exaggerate what you’re saying cuz then the convo will be gonzo.

In a real relationship, men, we gotta want more than just sex. Some women think that all men are dogs barking for a piece of female flesh, but most of us really do want to interact in a way that feels right. But even if we suck at sharing our hearts, don’t think it means we’re not complicated. Most guys have more going on inside than they ever talk about.

Girls also have needs: sex (no shit!), communication, atten¬tion, appreciation, and most of all, RESPECT. When you look at it, girls are complicated too. They may seem more complicated than us, but they’re dealing with different shit. They have their PMS, periods, and I mean they’re the ones who can get preg¬nant, for crying out loud, so why not give them sympathy?

Problems come up in any relationship, but they’re easier to deal with if you have the big two basics: trust and love.

Trust is a feeling that is earned slowly, but it can be lost quicker than money in Vegas. Sometimes problems pop up faster than Jordan hops, but if you trust each other anything can be overcome.

Love is such a strong word that it could make you get butterflies or crush you like orange soda. Never ever unleash such a word on your partner unless you feel it and the time is right. Don’t get it wrong and mix up just liking someone with actually loving them. But if you do both feel it, ain’t nothing better for a relationship.
