"WHERE ON EARTH WERE YOU, ADRIAN?!?" Lissa screeched in Adrian's ear, making him wince. "I THOUGHT I COULD AT LEAST COUNT ON YOU TO COME TO ROSE'S FUNERAL!!! WHERE WERE YOU?!?!?"
"Hey, Your Majesty," Lissa's glare deepened. Adrian continued, "Chill a little. I got a little caught up. By the way, say hi to.. Er... Scarlet!"
"Hi, Scarlet. Apologies for what you are currently witnessing." Her demeanour immediately changes. "IS THAT WHERE YOU WERE, ADRIAN?!?! HANGING OUT WITH A LITTLE BLOOD WH-" she stops herself just in time. "Explain yourself."
Behind her, Dimitri watches, stone-faced, with Christian beside him looking as mad as Lissa.
"Well...." Adrian looks uncomfortable, glancing at me. I just shrug. "I-I should probably get over Rose. Ten years of moping over her, and now she's dead, all that time wasted. So I moved on. I don't love her anymore." Adrian gives a small grimace at the last part which I'm pretty sure only I see.
"Wasted?" Lissa starts quiet. "WASTED??? There is no such thing as time wasted on Rose Hathaway. She was the best guardian ever. My best friend..." She started to choke up. "The most amazing, headstrong, indepen-"
All of a sudden, Dimitri is beside her. "Queen Vasilisa," he whispers quietly so no one other than me (with my Strigoi hearing) and Lissa could hear it. "May I leave this conversation?"
"Of course, Dimitri." Lissa looks at him sympathetically.
He briskly walks out of the room.
"Your Majesty?" I ask mildly.
"Lissa, please," she corrects.
"Lissa, may I leave as well? I feel like this isn't something I should be witnessing."
"By all means, you may."
I walk out the room. When out of sight, I run towards the training room, where I know Dimitri will be, letting off steam.

I hear punching noises. Bingo! I think, quietly slipping in.
He doesn't notice me.
I get a quick idea.
I walk up to his back quietly.
He spins around. "What?" He roars. I jump. Then, seeing me, he apologizes immediately. "Apologies. I thought you were someone else." Knowing him so well, I could see something he was so deftly hiding: his rage. "Scarlett, is it?" He asked, although I could see hatred mixed with something else in his eyes. Wonder?
"Yep," Yes, defiantly wonder. But over what? Adrian's quick recovery over my death? How he had found me when he was so hung over for Rose?
"Care to spar a little?" I ask, smiling.
He looks bewildered. "What?"
