I held the door handle hesitating exiting his car. I took a deep breath, pulled the handle, and stepped out. I turned to look at him, of course he held that smirk that I've learned is a signature thing for him. I tightened my hold on my books as I looked at all the faces staring back at me. I could already see people whispering, everybody knew who this car belonged to.

"See you when you get out Princess."

I slammed the door ignoring Ethan's chuckling. I walked up the steps, well attempted to walk up the steps of the courtyard with my head held high. As soon as I saw different sets of eyes on me I immediately put my head down. I could hear the whispers when I passed by people to get to my locker. You know what's worse than being the only speck of color in your family, being the only speck of color in this school.

If I were white I probably could have gotten away with getting out of Ethan's car. Seeing as I'm the only minority in this school I already stick out like a sore thumb. King Asshole just made this a lot worse for me. I haven't seen Patience yet, but I did see her drones out front so I know they saw me. Saying I'm afraid of seeing her would be an understatement, I'm petrified. Fuck it, I need my best, and closest friend.

Me: 911!!!

SugaMama: Who need that ass beat?

Me: I might need you to get me from my school early.

SugaMama: Whatttt? The goody goody wants to ditch school to slum with the hoodlums?

Me: Yes bitch🙌🙌! Give me hoodlums over snobs any day 😂

SugaMama is my best friend, Raven, I've known her since I was born. She lived next door to my mom. Whenever I get to be on my mom's side of town I spend some time with her. My dad let me stay in contact with her up until I was about ten because Clara got tired of people calling, and disrupting her family. So she changed the landline number, and of course everybody was notified except my mom, and Raven's mother.

Thankfully, they had both given me their email address a while back, so I would always use my mini laptop to talk to them. Clara and my dad finally gave me my own cell phone when I was twelve even though Patience got one when we were ten. I expected that because Clara felt that a growing girl like Patience deserved contact with the outside world.

My sister's first phone was the new second generation iPhone while mines was an old 2006 Nokia model. Although the phone was old it had the battery life of Jesus. I could go almost three hours, and still be on at least eighty-nine percent. I didn't get an up to date phone until my fourteenth birthday when I got the iPhone 5. I never complained, I humbly accepted whatever was given to me. Being bratty, and ungrateful is just a hideous trait on anybody.

I sat in the back of my class doing my best to blend in, pffft like that's going to happen. Since my teacher was blabbing about nothing, I eased my phone out of my pocket, and began tapping away as I text Raven.

SugaMama: I'll see what I can do. My first class is almost over anyway.

Raven graduated early so she was already taking college courses. I was extremely proud of her when she told me, I was also extremely upset because I couldn't go to her graduation. I made it up by spending that following week with her because my dad had a business trip, and Clara went with him. I really needed some girl time with her.

The bell rang ending one of my many annoying classes. I didn't need to change books, but I did need a bathroom break. I stepped into the girls restroom only to be shoved into the wall behind the door, dropping my belongings at my feet in the process. Three bodies now stood in front of me.

"You little slut." Patience spat at me as her goons held me against the wall.

"So that's why he's taking an interest in you, you're whoring around with him."

"I'm not whoring around with anybody. He offered me a ride to school, that's it."

"Liar!" She yelled in my face. Her friends sent sharp kicks to my sides. Those are definitely going to leave a bruise.

"You think I didn't see you getting out of his car, strutting around this place like you're hot shit? I see everything, I own this school. You, you're just a waste of space that nobody cares about."

I said nothing, I let her continue her verbal assault. This is nothing new when it comes to my sister.

"Stay away from Ethan, or else it'll get worse for you." She brought her knee into my stomach hard.

I waited until they were completely out of the restroom, and away from the door before sliding down the wall. My body shook with sobs, as my eyes filled with tears. I held my sides ignoring the pain in sides, and stomach. This is nothing, why am I crying, Patience has done worse to me. I fish my phone out of the the pocket of my binder. My vision is still blurry due to my tears shedding. I hit my contacts scrolling, and hitting the call button.

Holding the phone to my ear I wait for the ringing to stop, when it does I hear the person on the other end breathing. Instead of waiting for them to speak I just rush my words out.

"I know you're probably busy with one of your classes, but I really need to get away from here. I'll be at the back, you know the place I showed you that one time." I hung up, continuing to sit on the floor until I gained my composure back. Pulling myself off the floor, and dragged myself to the back to wait on Raven. God please don't let this day get any worse.
