My little monsters

Everyone has them

Those little monsters

Who whisper in your ear

That you’re not good enough

That you will never be

They have teeth like knives

Hands like eagle claws

With a constant stream of darkness

That makes you want to give up

To surrender

But I don’t.

I try and I try to ignore them.

To smile and be full of cheer.

To ignore their sly words

Except it’s hard

To do that all the time

I battle them daily

A constant fight

The turmoil and despair

My heart- a myriad of emotions

As I almost give up

But then rise from the ashes

Undefeated

These are my little monsters

Sadness

Anger

Low self esteem

Little motivation

Jealousy

Fear

And many more to name…

What are yours?
