Laurence looked down at the young infant in his hands, his little brother, who looked up at him with stunning blue eyes, scanning him with a gummy smile. It was just Laurence and the baby right now, with Cadenza and his parents sleeping soundly a few rooms away. Laurence loved staying up late and getting up early with his brother and hoped that him spending as much time as possible with him.
Laurence loved his parents, after all they had adopted him so many years ago... but they had no idea about what happened to him in high school. The hell he went through, what he had done, what had been done to him... none of it. If it hadn't been for the real friends he made back then he likely wouldn't be here now Seeing his brother now though he could only hope that he would be able to protect him from the same things that happened to him. Nobody should have gone through what he had.
The baby cooed, grabbing the strings to his shirt and tugging on them playfully.
Laurence chuckled, though a tear dripped from his eyes. "Don't worry, I'll protect you from all the things that I've seen. Nobody will ever hurt you. I promise."
