Oliver Wood died during a Quidditch match soon after the Battle of Hogwarts, he took a bludger to the head, falling off his broom during a world cup match. The World Cup field is higher up than other ones, the fall combined with the damage to his head killed him on impact. After his death, he returned to Hogwarts as a ghost, determined to teach the future generations to be great quidditch players. They even let him be Quidditch Professor. This of course was after Madam Hooch was killed in a terrible accident.
