Yoongi wasn't one for favors.

He wasn't interested in the sad plights of others, he didn't care much for lending a hand and his advice was always blunt and brutal. That wasn't to say that he was a cruel person, without any warmth in his heart, because he had soft spots for his rowdy friends. Still, even they knew better than to try his patience or overstay their welcome. Yoongi's room was open from 1pm to 4pm only, and he was never required to play host on movie nights. Weekends were his to spend alone, if he wanted. Jimin and Jungkook weren't allowed to drag him out of bed to buy them breakfast and Hoseok wasn't allowed to beg assistance on a track for dance class.

Seokjin left his cookies outside the door and Namjoon never bothered Yoongi with anything, because he was the second most stoic and introverted person of the group. Yoongi was very much an introvert and he didn't mind that he missed campus activities or parties when he had Seokjin's cookies or Jungkook's adoring face listening to his music. He had all he needed.

Except for quiet people next door; he didn't have those. The people next door seemed to always be doing something rowdy, which meant that Yoongi spend a great deal of the time he spent in his room wearing headphones. This was fine with him, but being woken at ungodly hours by loud banging and thumping sounds and swearing afterward was the opposite of fine.

Yoongi had tried to put in a word with housing about the noise, but nothing changed. Seokjin offered for him to bunk in with him and Namjoon on Fridays, which were the worst days, but Yoongi was too lazy to do that every week. He just suffered through it instead.

He was coming back from class one Thursday afternoon to find a lanky kid about Jungkook's side staring at the door next to his. He wasn't a curious person the same way he wasn't a person of favors, but when the kid didn't move all throughout his unlocking and opening his own door, he poked his head back out after dumping his stuff. "You okay, kid?"

Lanky looked up. He had soft features that matched his soft straw-colored hair. "Yeah, I think so."

"Okay." Yoongi took him at his word and shut his own door, thinking nothing of it until he heard Seokjin knocking. Seokjin knocked politely, not like he needed to escape the Mongol hordes, so that's how Yoongi always knew it was him.

"Here's your dinner, I have to supervise Jungkook completing his homework and Hoseok is sick, so Jimin is taking care of him, and Namjoon went home early for the weekend for a wedding."

Yoongi nodded, taking in the information. Seokjin tilted his head sideways and Yoongi looked to the right to see Lanky sprawled on the floor with a book open under his head. It looked like he'd been doing homework in front of his door and had fallen asleep.

"Is that one of your neighbors?"

"I think so. He switched dorms recently, I think? The noise hasn't been so bad, still bad, but not as bad. Maybe he forgot his key."

Seokjin walked over and crouched next to the kid, checking his forehead and smoothing his hair, typical Seokjin things. "Can you lend him a blanket in case his roommate is back late?"

Yoongi looked at him incredulously.

Seokjin's expression didn't change. "Or, even better, lend him your couch. Since you've still fended off a roommate, you've got plenty of space. I'll carry him in."

Yoongi rolled his eyes but he didn't close the door as he went to put the food away. A moment later, Seokjin walked in with Lanky in his arms, setting him down gently on the couch. "He certainly sleeps well."

"I'll get his things. You'll offer him food and drink when he wakes up, won't you?"

"Yeah," Yoongi muttered, knowing that arguing with Seokjin was a battle never won. "But he's not staying the night."
