"Allow me," Elijah said, and I sent him a soft smile over my shoulder before he took the two ends of the necklace and clasped them together for me. "I do agree, it would be far more enjoyable if he wasn't here, but unfortunately this is necessary. Besides, he seems to have taken a bit of a liking to you," his tone turned dark at the very end.

"Thank you, and don't worry," I told him turning to give him a kiss on the cheek. "I only have eyes for you, my love."

The corners of his lips turned up into a small smile, and I looked down at his tie to see it slightly crooked. I adjusted it for him, knowing that it would drive him insane if he saw it.

"Now, I believe that I hear the three of them bickering already," he said, a slight smirk forming on his lips. "Shall we?" he asked, then stuck out his arm for me, and I hooked mine in his.

We went down the stairs together, and Elijah spoke up, making them well aware that we were there.

"Welcome to our home," he said, and all three men turned to look at us. It took me a moment to realize that Aurora was here as well, and she was staring at Tristan with wide eyes. She seemed surprised and jealous that Tristan was watching us instead of her.

I would have expected Tristan to look at me with hatred, since I had attacked him the last time I saw him. But he did not. I couldn't quite make out what emotion he was feeling when he looked at me.

"Oh, how I wish it were under better circumstances," I said, turning to my right to look at Elijah with a slight frown before looking back at the three little demons and my dear friend.

"Indeed," he nodded. "We all face a common threat. A prophecy warning that my siblings and I would all fall in a year. I fear my sister already has."

At that moment, I unlinked my arm with Elijah's, and he touched the bottom part of the railing once we reached the bottom of the stairs. I saw his hand tighten around the railing.

"Only as a precautionary measure, I assure you," Tristan said, after glancing back at Lucien.

"I disagree, Tristan. I believe it is a completely unnecessary measure," I said, narrowing my eyes at him, while a ghost of a smile lingered on his face.

I went over to stand by Klaus, while Elijah stood by me. It was three against three, and with Elijah's next words, they were well aware that they were entirely, utterly, completely screwed.

"We need to unite to prevent this prophecy from coming to pass. And since any alliance is impossible without honesty..." he exchanged a look with both Niklaus and I, an almost coy smile forming when he looked back at the three of them. "Let us begin this evening's proceedings by formally acknowledging your clandestine alliance."

Tristan and Lucien were both a little afraid by this admission, considering it was so early in the evening. If Elijah was opening with the knowledge of their alliance, what the hell else did he have in store? Oh, fun times. Fun, fun times.

"Now gentleman, before-" Lucien started, but was cut off by Elijah.

"Shh, shh, shh, shh," Elijah said, acting rather patronizing. "Lucy, please. Let's not ruin the dinner before it begins."

I couldn't help but snicker at the look on Lucien's face when he heard his newest nickname, and both Klaus and Elijah smirked at me.

"And, do try to bear in mind, we expect an honest and productive negotiation this evening!" Klaus said excitedly.

Tristan nodded warily, while Lucien just looked terrified, and Aurora just seemed bored.

Elijah grinned. "Shall we begin?"
