Lockdown

Damien took a step towards me. He had a bland look on his face, like he was thinking of what to say. And then, he held out the small object in his hand. I got a better look at it.
Small. Like an eraser. Black. With a small, red button on it.
Oh crap.
Damien grinned, nodding, like he knew what I was thinking. "Cool, right?"
"You... You... That's for bombs!" I hissed.
He clapped my shoulder, almost knocking me over. "Good for you, Robin Wayne."
And then I heard a phone ring.
That same ring I heard earlier in the library.
Riiinnnngggg....
Riiinnngggg....
I looked at Damien, who held his hand out. "You do the honors, survivor."
I looked down at his hand and picked up the small remote detonator. I very much wanted to push the button. Don't ask me why. It just seemed... Fitting. After all that's happened, pushing the button would save me.
Guess I should have listened to my soul.
Because I heard a loud voice, booming, "POLICE! DROP YOUR WEAPONS!"
But it was too late.
I had already pushed the button.
