Lockdown

12:32pm

My glasses helped to clear out the blackness in front of my eyes. I could make out slight shapes of people moving and crashing into each other. I could make out the essence of the classroom. Mrs. Thicket heading over to me, pushing herself past students. The open door, people foaming in and out, the classroom in destruction.

Why are they so panicked? I wondered. It was just a sound on the intercom.

"Robin," Mrs. Thicket reached me and put her hands on my shoulders. "Are you all right?"

I nodded, squinting through my glasses at her face. "What's going on?" I asked.

She pursed her lips and looked around. "I think something is happening," she said.

"W-what?" my voice shook, my hand tightening around my cane.

She didn't have time to answer.

The gunshots begun.
