Viral vampires weren't like the vampires in legends. These were experiments, with different features. Each feature had its explanation for it, and these details differentiated them from the ones in stories. These viral vampires were still human but with supernatural like abilities.

Their brains were now a more advanced mass of nerves. These nerves sent stronger signals at quicker speeds which resulted in heightened senses in the host. The host was now smarter, more observant, stronger, and had sharper reflexes. This was all possible because of larger axons (nerve cells).

With the altered DNA came more endorphins which were a type of hormone. This hormone permitted the experiment to have stronger control over pain. When they fought, all their blood went to their brain which then caused paleness. They did consume blood but it was always absorbed before reaching the stomach. Blood wasn't a must, they only needed it for when they needed an extra boost of energy.

Lauren didn't have control of it, she never did. She was born this way, she was in this facility  ever since. She knew there was more than white walls out there, but her chances of seeing for herself were basically 0.

The nineteen year old was an experiment and that's what she considered herself, a number, she was 727. Yeah she had a name but never did she really find who she was. She mostly kept to herself but she did manage to make one friend whose name was Beatrice but called her Bea instead.

The shorter girl was two years younger than her. The way they met was rather interesting, they both were caught trying to sneak out through the air vents. Since that day they've learned to be very similar in many aspects.

Together they knew little about the world obviously. All the scientists would tell them was that the outside was not how it used to be. It was starting to get hard living on it and the government wanted humans to revolutionize in order for them to survive.

The brains of the nation got together and came up with a plan. They'd inject a virus into people that would change them dramatically. Their characteristics would become vampire like but tests showed that not everyone reacted positively to the virus.

Of course all of this was top secret, but somehow information of the project was leaked and got into the general public and all over the news worldwide. The main facility was located in Atlanta, Georgia and they had riots about being against such thing all the time. Especially because of all those scary stories about the creatures that were told in their early years.

Not all agreed in becoming a vampire in order to survive but it was only a handful of them that wouldn't budge from their hard no. The rest of the population was all in for it and some didn't really care, as long as they didn't die, they were good with whatever was decided for them.

As was said, Lauren was born with it. Her parents had been experiments as well when she was produced but her mother died not long after she was born and so did her father. There was only a bunch that survived such change and Lauren was one of them along with Bea. Scientists were amazed at how good they adapted, it was almost as if they were destined to be such things.
