What's up, fam?!

I hope you're all doing well this week!

I'm not sure if you've uh...noticed from the gif...but this chapter is gonna be a little steamy. So I'm just gonna put the obligatory 'sexual content warning' right here. It's not full on (sorry guys but I wanna keep this at a rating where younger guys and gals can read it), but it's still...there. So... be warned?

C36

"You're making me nervous," Cynthius chuckled as I relentlessly paced back and forth. "He'll be out soon. You know Isaac had to brief him about Althea as soon as possible."

"I already told him everything," I murmured, fidgeting nervously with my fingers as I impatiently waited outside Isaac's office.

"But Isaac doesn't know that," Cynthius coolly shot back and I glanced up at him, sighing when I saw he was casually leaning against the wall like nothing in the world could possibly faze him.

"I appreciate you letting me know where Damien was, but what are you doing here?" I raised an eyebrow as I softly spoke. At my question, Cynthius shrugged and a bitter grin stretched his lips.

"Isaac's briefing Isabella too. After that we're heading to scope out the school one more time before we infiltrate it tomorrow night," I immediately stiffened at his words and stopped fidgeting, my expression serious as I stared at him.

"I should be going with you."

"No," Cynthius quickly shook his head with a tight smile. "You should be staying here to rest. Our sources tell us that the school is their base and has been for the last month. I doubt they'll be leaving anytime soon."

"But Althea-"

"We have a plan, Jules. We should stick to it," he sternly retorted and I bit down on my lip to stop myself from arguing.

He's right. I silently reminded myself as I turned my attention back to the white door beside me. We won't get her back if we just barge in.

"We don't think she's the only one in there, remember? They'll all be in danger if we don't do this right," Cynthius gently voiced my thoughts and I eventually nodded, sniffing back the tears stinging my eyes.

"Our sources..." I avoided Cynthius's gaze as I absentmindedly kicked the ground. "Who'd Emmett say they were again?"

"Mostly Hunters who'd patrolled the area. At night they'd hear screams coming from the school but whenever they went to investigate, they'd walk out without seeing anything but they always had holes in their memories."

"The school's abandoned, isn't it? Pretty perfect hideout," I mumbled, trying not to think about how my best friend could've been one of those people screaming. "Emmett thinks Warlock's are working with them because of the memory issues, doesn't he?"

"Probably. He didn't say anything about it but I'm assuming that's why he's involved."

"Do you really think she could be in there?" I quietly asked, keeping my eyes glued to the ground as I leant against the wall on the other side of the door.
