Simon's POV

Sighing, I slowly tap my fingers against the wall as thoughts swarm my mind.

What was Josh's deal? Why was he so damn protective of his name? And why was he so protective of everything else? I'm still a human, I still know when something is off.

Even if the whole world thinks I'm a sociopathic murderer.

I sigh, tracing Josh's name with my finger onto the cold cement wall.

Something about that man makes me feel some sort of way.

Even if all he does is snap at me, it still makes my heart soar over the moon. The way my name rolls off his tongue.. It gets me going.

I hear footsteps approach my cell, sighing as I stand from my springy bed, making my way towards the cold, metal bars caging me in, leaving my on the other side.

I snake long arms through the slots dividing the bars, clasping my hands on the other side. I dig my heel into the bottom of the bar, leaning forward a bit to stretch my tight hamstring.

In the downtime in my cell, when I'm not getting food, going for check ups, appointments, going to the library or showering, I work out. May as well get stronger while I'm stuck in this hellhole.

"Hey, get your arms back into your cell." Josh spits.

He didn't look like the bearded Josh, in fact, he looked completely opposite. He was small and lanky, his slightly sunken in cheekbones proof he uses drugs. But honestly, who doesn't?

"Now, what are you gonna do about it? Put me in isolation just like you put Sandy in there for having an uncontrollable episode?" I scoff as he walks past, looking at him through my eyebrows, a smirk painted on my lips as he turns around with an angry look.

He immediately pulls out his long metal rod, raising his arm and smashing it down onto my forearms. The pain sends shockwaves throughout my body, wretching a scream from my stomach as my knees buckle, and I fall to the icy cold cement beneath me.

"Don't you dare talk to me like that again. I'll do that same thing once again, over and over again until you need to get your arms removed. Keep your arms inside your cell, please." He hisses, before laughing lightly and continuing down the hallway.

Tears blur my vision as I observe the injuries, my jaw clenching as I muffle a screaming sob. My forearms are definitely fucked, my right hand carefully brushing over the indent in my bone, causing me to scream in pain.

I scoot my body backwards, until I reach the cold cement wall. Tears pour down my cheeks as I cradle my arm in my chest, the pain making my body tremble.

Slowly, painfully but surely, I fall into a dreamless slumber.

"Simon?!" I hear a familiar voice shriek, causing my eyes to shoot open.

I cry out in pain as I go to move my left arm. I look towards Josh, seeing him with a long rolling tray full of what looked like medical supplies. He unlocks my cell, rushing in and kneeling in front of my knees.

"Oh my god Simon, what happened?" He asks, reaching backwards and grabbing his big medical kit.

"I-.." I trail off.

Do I tell him the truth and risk jeprodizing his friendship with the other Josh? Or do I make him feel sympathetic for me?

Ah, fuck it.
