Laurance's Birthday- I See The Light

Start from the beginning

"JUST DO MY SUGGESTION!!"

"Agreed. Let's get this over with." Katelyn said.

"Yeah." I agreed.

Zane sighed and reluctantly surrendered. "Alright, fiiiiiiine."

The three of us got up and stood side by side near a window, while the others were giddy with excitement, wondering what we'll sound like. I stood next to Katelyn, since I won't feel comfortable singing right next to Zane.

"Uh huh. Put me right next to this guy." Katelyn groaned again as she pointed to Zane.

"Touché" He replied.

"Ok Laurance, Happy Birthday. Start." Katelyn hissed.

"What? No! I don't know the lyrics! Ask Zane, he watches Disney." I hissed back.

"I DON'T KNOW EITHER!! Besides, Rapunzel starts it! So Katelyn sings first!"

"Huh. So you DO know Disney." She replied coolly.

I could have sworn I heard Zane muttering and cursing under his breath about how Aphmau forces him to watch it.

I smirked.

While we were squirming around on how to start, the room was so deadly silent you could hear a pin drop. Now I was REALLY uncomfortable.

"Um...we don't know how to start..."

"Add music!!" Kawaii~Chan gasped.

Oh great.

Aphmau suddenly pulled out her phone and started to play 'I See The Light' karaoke, and held it up for us to see.

"I made sure this one had three parts for you guys to sing! Huehue! Blue is for Katelyn, Green is for Laurance, and black is for Zane, and everyone sings when all three colors merge."

Great. Color coordinated, so we just CAN'T miss our parts.

The guitar intro started.

Katelyn broke into a sweat. She knows Rapunzel's part goes first, and she's the only girl.

I stared out of the window. The sun was still out, low over the pastel horizon of pink, orange, and glowing yellow. Sunset. What a sight. The rolling clouds came and covered the sight of the beautiful dusk. Now there was only gray and white. I looked back into Aphmau's house, in her living room, where Katelyn was getting ready to sing.

The words came on.

They were blue.

Katelyn looked like she was goingbto pee her pants.

At that moment, I felt really bad. I want to help her. I've got to help her.

"You can do it, Katelyn." I whispered. I felt like it was the right thing to do.

She glanced at me, and nodded vigorously. I could make out a "Thanks" from her.

And the start of her sweet, overpowering voice filled the room.

Katelyn= itallic
Laurance= bold
Zane= Underlined
Everyone= this

All those days, watching from the windows
All those years outside looking in
All that time never even knowing
Just how blind I've been.

As she held out the last note, green lyrics filled the page. I took a deep breath.

Katelyn whispered, "Good luck Laurance."

I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and smiled.

Now I'm here blinking in the starlight
Now I'm here suddenly I see
Standing here it's all so clear
I'm where I'm meant to be

I glanced at Katelyn and Zane and nodded. Zane's face was matted with sweat, and I bet there was a whole pool in that mask. I tried to smile at him. He just averted his eyes and nodded.

And at last I see the light
And it's like the fog has lifted
And at last I see the light
And it's like the sky is new
And it's warm and real and bright
And the world has somehow shifted
All at once everything looks different
Now that I see you

All those days chasing down a daydream
All those years living in a blur
All that time never truly seeing
Things, the way they were
Now she's here shining in the starlight
Now she's here suddenly I know
If she's here it's crystal clear
I'm where I'm meant to go

And at last I see the light
And it's like the fog has lifted
And at last I see the light
And it's like the sky is new
And it's warm and real and bright
And the world has somehow shifted
All at once everything looks different

Now that I see you

Now that I see you

Now that I see

You

We all rung out the last note as powerful and as sweet as we could, I can tell.

The room fell silent.

I opened my eyes and looked around.

Everyone was gaping.

They stared at us with...disbelief?

Then Aphmau finally said something.

"That...was beautiful."

"You really do sound like angels." Garroth said as he smiled warmly.

I looked out at the sky again. The clouds had finally cleared, and I saw the sun seeing its finals moments of my birthday. September 30th. It glowed as bright as a fire, with the red light illuminating Mystreet. It finally sunk down into the horizon, and the sky turned into a hazy night sky filled with tons of shades of blue.
The full moon cast its silvery spell over the city, like a blanket of light. I could see the stars also coming out in the clear sky.

And then I looked back at Garroth.

He smiled.

At last, I see the light.

Now that I see you.
