Micky was afraid to leave Mike the next day, but he had to. So he got up (Mike, as usual, was still asleep) and got ready for school. He kissed Mike's cheek before going to the front door. He was going to call goodbye to Rebecca, but—that's when he froze.

She was on the phone, talking to someone. Micky could hear bits and pieces of the conversation.

"Are you sure he'll be taken care of?"

"Micky will be heartbroken, but I'm starting to think it's what's best for Mike."

"Thank you, Doctor."

It didn't take long for Micky to connect the missing pieces.

Rebecca was going to send Mike away.
