I found myself laying on a cot nurses office, Finn sitting in a chair rolling his eyes like he didn't care. Typical jock. "What happened?" I asked giving him a need to know or I will hurt you stare before standing up from the hard bed.
"I handed you my contact info, and soon after you fainted. The nurse said you looked extremely pale, and as if you hadn't eaten for days. I personally don't see it," Finn said ending the statement rudely. I awkwardly smiled, again hoping Finn wasn't observant. The truth was I hadn't eaten much in a about a week. I couldn't stand what the school called food. The only thing here I could stand were the occasional piece of fruit, but that was only when I was really staving. At home, my dad doesn't let me eat until I finish the mile long list of chores. By then he made sure there was almost nothing left, causing me to almost always go to bed hungry.
"I need to get back to class," I said quickly.
"Not so fast," Finn said blocking the door, "look at the clock." I glanced over to the wall were I saw that school was dismissed an hour ago.
"You stayed with me?" I said surprised, nobody had ever stayed.
"Mrs. Solo told made me. She said we need to act like husband and wife," he scoffed.
My smile faded. He didn't want to be here. He was forced. Not only that but I had to home. My dad was going to kill me! Literally. I began to walk towards the door. "Rey, wait," Finn said, "we need to stop by Mrs. Solos room to get Maya or Miria or something."
"Miranda," I said rudely power walking to Mrs. Solos room. Finn jogged behind me trying to catch up.
"I never noticed your hair before. It's nice," he said flirting.
I turned around allowing the three buns to turn with me. I grabbed his shoulders and began to speak, "I don't know what your problem is, but note that I will not ever let you in my pants, toy understand," Finn noted trying to hide his fear, "good."
Finn continued to follow me down the hall. After a while, we arrived in the classroom. I grabbed the doll along with our paper, as well as my books and stuff which I needed for that class. I walked over to my locker, Finn still following me. "Did we have homework from Mrs. Solo?" I ask placing a few books in my old backpack and putting the stuff I knew I wouldn't need on the top shelf.
"Just to make a schedule dif taking care of our child with our partner," he said.
I bit the skin around my fingers, not allowing it to bleed, somethings I had done in nervousness since middle school. (I do this too) I thought about what to say to Finn before it suddenly came out, "you can come over right now," I said quickly not allowing myself to think before I spoke. I had never had friends over, let alone a guy. Dad was going to freak! I grabbed my bag, and followed Finn to his locker. He grabbed a brand new Nike bag and pulled out his iPhone 6s+.
"Did you drive?" He asked. I shock my head. I had my license, but didn't have a car, so I took the bus. "We can take my car," Finn replied smiling. I followed Finn, until he led me to the passengers seat of a white Mercedes convertible. He connected his phone to Bluetooth. "What music do you like?"
"Country," I said, "Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley, Luke Bryan, stuff like that. I also like Elvis."
"We ain't listening to that crap," he said turning on the pop station on pandora. I groaned I couldn't stand the Justin Beber or whatever his name is. I took a my bottom two buns down. "Why'd you do that?" He said rudely.
"I've always wondered what it felt like for my hair to blow in the wind." Finn shrugged, mumbling something under his breath, which sounded like "what do I care?" I directed Finn to my neighborhood. As we pulled up to my house I noticed my dads car wasn't in the driveway. Thank goodness. I shot a text to my dad telling him I got caught up and had to have a "friend" over to work on a project. I carried Miranda in and led Finn to my basement room. "I think I kept some old doll beds and that kind of stuff that we can use," I said handing Miranda to Finn. I walked into the storage room, before finding a pink plastic crib with a built in changing table.
I carried that into my room. I carefully took Miranda from Finn and placed her in the crib, covering her with a blanket I found hanging off my bed. I smiled at the fact she didn't cry. I pulled out the piece of paper Finn gave me. "Ok," I started, "what days are you free?"
