Chapter Sixteen: I Want Out

"I want out. There's been no demon activity, Hodge." I say through clenched teeth. 

"He could be playing us, Hayley." Hodge explains.

"Don't you dare call my Hayley. In fact, don't call me anything." I sneer. 

"It's your name isn't it?" He spits back.

"I. Want. Out!" I glare.

"You can't. The Clave-" He says. But I cut him off.

"I don't give a damn about what the Clave has to say about this! I've been busting my ass, being flirted to by some jackhole, and almost suspended from a damn mundane school!" I slam a hand on the table. "I'm. Done!" 

"You. Have. To. Stay! The Clave wants you, Jace, Clary, Simon, Isabelle, and Alec to perform this duty!" His voice raises. 

"Ugh!" I storm out and I slam the door to the library and I go up to my room. I sit there and then pull out a book. I dunno, I just wandered into the mundane school library and picked one out.
