Chapter 1: Ice Cold Boss

My friends and I visit a shrine here in Magnolia. Currently they are having a festival for the upcoming Valentines Day. Cana Alberona, one of my friend, drags us at a fortune telling booth, together with Erza Scarlet.

"A relationship that's like a roller coaster." the fortune teller said looking at her glass ball

"A relationship that's like a roller coaster?" I asked

"There will be a fog within your heart." she said with a crazy annoying tone

"and when that clears up, a male will appear. That person will be your best and worst fated person." she added

"Best and worst?" I asked

"Yes! That's why it's like a roller coaster." she said and a huge question mark just popped up above my head.

"What's with that fortune telling? I can't tell if it's good or not." Erza-san said

"At least you have a fated person, Juvia!" Cana-san said cheerfully. We walk outside the shrine and about to go home now.

"She said I have a breaking up jinx stuck with me." Cana-san said

"That's because you pick men based on looks." I said

"While I'll only get married after 40. Is that even real?" Erza-san said

"Juvia think she'll pass on love for the time being." I said

"You're so negative huh? Why? You have someone you can't forget?" Erza-san asked

"hmmm." I just smiled at her and continued on walking

"A fateful encounter is always unexpected."

"Ah! It's Lyon Vastia!." Cana-san stopped on walking and look at the screen at a building. Erza-san and I both look towards the screen also. Lyon Vastia's upcoming film is showing on the screen.

"You're right. He's cool, huh?" Erza-san said

"I wanna try going out with someone like Lyon Vastia." Cana-san said.

"It'll be impossible for you, Cana." Erza-san chuckles

"Why must we be separated?"

As I stare at him at the screen, I can't help but to remember the past.

"Yosh, we'll find it! A four-leaf clover!" Lyon said while we are looking for a four-leaf clover. But all I can find is a normal three-leaf clover.

"Darn." I said

"Juvia!" Lyon called. I get up and saw 2 policeman and a man in a suit trying to get him.

"Lyon!" I called

"Contact the station, tell them we've found the missing persons." The policeman said

"Juvia Lockser-san, correct?" the man in a suit approach me "Your parents are worried about you." he said and a policewoman also take me with them.

"I'll come for you."

The next day I go to my workplace, Fairy Hotel. I'm really late now, and I'm sure I will be scolded by my ice cold boss again.

"Good morning Juvia." a co-worker greet me in my way to the locker room.

Fairy Hotel has over 7000 employees. A leading hotel chain managed by a well-founded household.

As I walk in the hallway, I almost bump into Laxus Dreyar, the overall top Senior Managing Director. While his little sister is just a self-appointed Director, Lucy Heartfilia. I don't know the background of their surnames, and I am not interested to know anything about it.

Without approval of the superiors, you can't survive. Employees who wants promotion has to bleed for it. Well, that doesn't concern me though. I arrived at the locker room with an extra time because I avoided bumping to them again. I changed into my uniform and went into the my department office. The Event Planning Department.

"You're late. I told you to be here at least 30 minutes earlier on days with events." and this is my boss, Gray Fullbuster, 29 years old.

"Yes, I'm sorry." I said in apology

"Today's Celebratory Event was moved up from 2 pm to 1 pm, is the preparation for the room done?" He asked as he walk by his desk and get some files

"I'll confirm it now." I said

"Why didn't you do that in advance?!" he said angry again at me "I already did that. There wasn't enough chairs."

"Is that so?" I asked "Why is that?" I said under my breath

"Don't space out!" he yelled again "Go run to the store room and take out more chairs."

"I'll head out." I said and run out the office to the storage room

"Don't run in the halls!" he scold me again. I'll just brisk walk my way. I saw him left the office also.

"Gray-san's so cool." said the two employees passing by

You can only say he's cool because you don't know this guys' super sadistic side! One time I'm carrying a bonsai tree for an event. I wait for the elevator to take me at the ground hall. When the elevator door opens, Gray-sama is inside and said "Use the stairs." then closes the door of the elevator

Then one time also when the CEO, Macarov Dreyar is making his rounds, he pushed my head down more because my head is too high. Another one is when I made a banner of "Congratulations." "You forgot the "U" in Congratulations." He said. I looked at the banner and it does lack the letter U. "Only you would make such ludicrous spelling errors, Juvia Lockser." he said

Then when I'm taking phone calls..."Yes, hello this is Fairy Hotel's Event Planning Department."

"No 'hello' needed." he said while passing by

"Can I get your name, please?" I asked the caller

"May I ask for." he said passing on my back again "Yes..." I said

That's not all, almost every day he scolds me. "How many times do I have to say it? Are you stupid? You're stupid, aren't you? Juvia Lockser?"

Every night when I went home, I always punch his picture on my punching bag. "Go die! Gray Fullbuster! Are you a freakin' teacher?!"
