Chapter1: The Name is Eris

Start from the beginning

If only I could say that.

But I don’t want to make this issue gets any worse. At times like this, hindi ko nalang maiwasan mapa-isip kung sadyang hate lang talaga nila ako kaya sila gan’yan or what.

I just sighed again in too much frustration.

My name is Kate Eris Morfei, 17 years old. And I never question my grandmother about my parents either. Everything’s fine, I’m just simply contented with my life. I’m happy back then—

I was happy back then.

Not until something unexpected happened, and I lost her forever. I lost the most important person in my life— I lost my grandmother. I was only fourteen that time. And even though masyado pa akong bata noon, nag simula na din akong magtrabaho.

And to be honest, hindi naging maganda ang buhay ko simula nang mawala ang mga mahal ko sa buhay, kasama na doon ang best friend ko. Nagkahiwalay kami noong eight years old palang ako pero kahit gano’n nagkaka-usap parin kami by exchanging letters.

Never.

I heave a deep sigh and facepalm. Gusto ko nalang umuwi agad kahit kadarating ko palang. Ughh.

“Miss Eris!”

“Please, tanggapin mo 'to!”

“Para sayo ‘to miss Eris! Binili ko pa ‘yan from other country.”

“Sige na miss Eris, please accept my offer. Let’s have a date!”

Damn. Here comes these annoying people. Ughh. How bothersome.

Every day, they’re the ones who always wait for me whenever I go to school.

They're disturbing my everyday life for Pete's sake!

I never wished any of it, pero ang dami nilang ibinibigay sa’kin na hindi ko naman kailangan. Not to mention, some gifts are ridiculously pricey or can’t be obtained easily. Mga chocolates na ang iba ay galing pa sa ibang bansa, ang iba branded na bag, perfumes, damit, sapatos, alahas, and etc. name it!

And one of the most ridiculous gift that someone ever tried to give me, is a certificate of ownership of their very own mining company.

I swear, my blood pressure can’t even...

Ahh, just remembering the countless times I have to endure their selfishness makes me want to throw a fit. And who would’ve thought I’ll get the chance to experience the cliché scenes you can only see in dramas?

Where their parents talk to you and offers a huge sum of money, saying “Here’s 10 million, just get away from my son.” Or the typical, “How much? How much do you want just to leave our son alone?”
