Grace's P.O.V

Days would go by, but what I sought the most were the nights. Much to mom's perplexity, I'd sleep early and wake up late in the afternoon, just to spend more and more time with Kian in my dreams to learn about the world downstairs and prepare, both mentally and physically, for the challenges ahead. Kian's strength, my raw and untamed power, heaven and hell, it fascinated me, as well as scared the hell out of me, all at the same time.

Although the vigorous training was beginning to take a toll on my health, I was still pumped to get involved for Eric's sake.

Today was no exception. As soon as I returned home from school, I did my homework, ate and went straight to bed.

2 AM:

Beautiful shades of opulent blue and purple hue painted the sky with a hope of a fresh start and another chance at life. As I walked along the beach in a long, ivory gown, I found serenity and tranquility, some of the rare gems one could seldom find in the hustle and bustle of life. It was peaceful, much to my liking.

I'd find unique shells laying on the shore on every few steps, some of them were exceptionally beautiful. I couldn't help but keep some of them for myself.

"Why, hello there, Miss Levitt." A familiar voice said from behind.

I turn around with a handful of shells to see the red-headed demon walking a horse towards me. The sun was glistening on his pale skin, his hair was ruffled. It was only then I realized how devilishly handsome Kian was. The horse, with its lush mane and proud stance, was a beauty too. I couldn't help but stare at them.

He hopped on top of the horse swiftly and reach out his hand

He hopped on top of the horse swiftly and reach out his hand. "Allow me to take you for a ride."

I hesitated at first, but then took it anyway, letting go of all the shells I had in my hands. He helped me up behind him on the horse. I clutched his strong shoulders tightly with both hands in all my nervousness. He grabbed the reins as the horse started to walk slowly.

It was my first time riding a horse. With a demon. In a dream.

I lowered my head and gritted my teeth. He chuckled slightly.

"Miss Levitt, you do realize the horse is just walking, right?"

I clear my throat as I raise my head away and tried to relax. I even let go of him trying to find my own balance.

"So, what's your big plan?"

"Turn you into a Phoenix. May be train you a little bit more and take you straight to my master so that you can take him under your protection while I ward off the wretched reaper and his partner in crime."

I look over the horizon, thinking, wondering. "Back it up a little. Did you just say 'turn you into a phoenix'? What if I get stuck in that form for good?" I imagine my life as a bird and shudder. "Ugh! I can't even. I'm okay using my powers as a human."
