Lily dropped us off at Jason's mom's house after I thanked her for everything. As I opened the door, it immediatley felt warmer than the cool rainy outdoors. It was seven at night and I was starving, but I didn't want to have to ask Lily to buy me food too. I headed into the kitchen to get something to eat while Jason went into the living room and sat on the couch to finish his McDonald's. After grabbing a bag of chips and a drink, I joined him on the couch. Suddenly I felt my phone buzz in my pocket and I had receieved a text from Jason's mom.

Ms.Hill: I'm heading over to Mr.Hunter's office. Be home around nine.

"Your mom just texted me. Should I tell her your here?" I asked Jason.

"No," he said just loud enough for me to hear.

"Why?"

"Just don't," he said a little louder.

"Okay."

Me: K. c u then

We continued to eat in silence and I couldn't help but wonder why he wouldn't just let me tell his mom that he was here. I contemplated asking for about thirty minutes when finally I couldn't wait any longer.

"Why don't you want her to know your okay?" I asked.

"I just don't. Knowing her, she'll say she missed me and was scared and all that crap and then she'll just be mad at me. Besides, she's not the one who drove around town all day trying to find me."

I must admit, I was really happy that Lily and I had been the ones to find him and not the police.

"So why did you run away?" I asked.

"I didn't. I least I wasn't planning on it. Last night I couldn't sleep and I decided I would just go out and drive around until I was tired. I then figured it was about time I told Ryan the truth about everything since all he wanted to do was help me. His address was on the front of his office door so I drove to his apartment. I would've waited until the morning but I couldn't take it anymore. I couldn't stop blaming myself for everything. He let me into his apartment and we sat on the couch for like two hours and he just listened to me. He told me to sleep on his couch since it was late, so I did. In the morning I felt bad for staying at his apartment all night so I left while he was changing. I knew if I waited and told him I was leaving he would call mom and tell her I was there. I wasn't ready to come home yet. Next, I decided to go by Vanessa's house and tell her the truth, but she just got mad and punched me, which is what happened to my lip. I had parked my car on the side of the rode outside her gated neighborhood and when I came back it was gone. So now I had no car, a busted lip, and it was pouring down rain. I decided to just keep walking until I found a bus stop that I could take home. Luckily I had my blanket from the back of my truck so I wouldn't compltely freeze to death, but my phone was and is still in the truck. I got really tired so I sat down under that highway and then you found me," he said.

"Woah that's pretty crazy," I said.

"Yeah, I know. I do feel kind of better though," he said giving me a shy smile.

I smiled back at him. "Well that's good."

"So what did you do while I was gone?" he asked.

I reexplained what I had told the police and then when the police came. Next I told him about how Lily and I drove to every possible place we could think of finding him, including the two different McDonald's. And then, of course, I talked about when we actually found him.

We sat in silence again as rain pounded against the windows.

"When we went by dad's house, I couldn't help but think that we will be living there in about a month," I said.
