Ashley's POV

As we walk into the living room, I see my dad with the look on his face and notice his phone in his hand.

"Julian, I know what happened, do you want to explain to me why you weren't where you should have been today?" I chuckle, loving the idea of Julian getting in trouble.

"And you, why didn't you call me?" He looked angrier with Julian than me, and he focused his attention back onto him, making him take a seat.

"Dad, I really need to finish teaching Julian the chores before it gets dark outside..." I say softly, not wanting him to get angry at me.

"Fine, but when you get back here. I am going to have a long talk with the both of you." He warned. Juliana and I hurry out the door, and I shut it behind me. I hear Julian sigh and I manage to place a smile on my face as we walk down the muddy path to the stables, this time Julian wasn't complaining.

"Alright, now, I want you to be the one who does this." I watch to see his reaction, technically he didn't have to do it. We were just hoping that he would listen enough to do so, and I really hope he listens this time.

"Okay." He unhooks the bucket and hurries away from the horses, a laugh spills from my mouth and he gives me a warning look. I shake my head and walk up to Spirit, running my hand on his head. Not too long and Julian comes back with a bucket full, he shows me and I notice two apples and a carrot, I stand surprised that he was actually listening to me. I watch as Julian slowly and carefully hooks the bucket back in place, and I giggle.

"What's so funny, loser?" He playfully glares at me.

"You." I smile bright, and he shakes his head.

"It isn't funny... " He rubs his hands on the dark colored jeans he's wearing.

"Okay." I say sarcastically, I watch as he rolls his eyes.

"Whatever, jerk." He smirks and grabs Grace's bucket and continues to finish off the job.

"Hey, would you like to learn how to ride?" I ask, right as he finishes hooking the bucket back in place.

"No, that is stupid." He speaks seriously and he crosses his arms, with that natural cool guy look.

"Alright, but when you want to let go of that cool guy status, you are welcome to go riding with me." I pull out the saddle and place it on Spirit's back, I hook it on nice and tight and grabs the reins. As I hop onto Spirit, it was clear to me that Julian wanted to ride, but because I don't want to argue with him about it, I just dismiss his face. He becomes a little hurtful when I try to do kind things for him, so I think that I may just let this one go.

"Can you pretty please open the gate for me?" I ask, batting my eyelashes.

"Sure..." He tries to remain serious, but a small smile creeps onto his lips. He tries to open the gate, but doesn't understand, and I chuckle.

"You have to lift that little flap up." I instruct him.

"Don't tell me what to do. I could have figured it out on my own." He snapped, and lifted the flap and pushed the gate open with anger. I shake my head, this guy sure does have some anger issues. I ride out and turn, watching him close the gate securely, he smirks as he lifts the flap down, and I sigh.

"Last chance, you can ride with me, if you want to." I offer, and I watch as he thinks.

"Okay, I guess." He smiles a little, and I tie up Spirit, and get Grace ready, teaching Julian how the saddles work and how to prepare them correctly. I show Julian how to get on, and then I hope back off, I watch as Julian tries, and he fails a few times. Clearly getting frustrated with himself I try to make him feel a little bit better.
