Chapter 10: Secret Mission

*Hogwarts*

~Shadow's POV~

"I can't believe it! Harry signed up for the tournament without telling me!" Ron bellowed while walking ahead of us to the Gryffindor Common Room. 

"He didn't sign up for it, Ron! This must be a trap," Hermione said,  stressed. 

'It is a trap,' I thought, fighting the urge not to tell them about what Dumbledore had said. 

"Shadow, my dear, can I excuse you for a moment?" Dumbledore's gentle voice asked.

"Yes, sir?" I said. 

He looked at me as if our talk is about serious matters. And if I say serious matters, I mean Voldemort involving matters. 

"Is there something wrong, sir?" I asked. "A-About Voldemort, I mean."

He looked far to the right and to the ceiling, as if something terrible was going to happen. 

"I am afraid, there is, my dear," he said, starting to pace back and forth. "I believe that you were there when Harry was selected as a champion for the Triwizard Tournament afew moments ago?" 

I nodded. 

"Well, I have suspicions that Voldemort's now active Death Eaters are involved in these problems the Ministry is having. As you know, there is a Death Eater here in the castle. Head of Dumstrang Institute, Igor Karkaroff, was once a Death Eater," he explained. 

"Yes sir, I've known," I said. "And Mr. Crouch's son, Barty Crouch-"

"-Junior," he cut me off, "was also a Death Eater."

"So, we have 2 suspects," I said. 

He nodded. 

"And if Voldemort is involved, it is most likely that Gaea is, too," he said. "I suppose you have already learned that you are a half-blood?"

"Yes sir," I said. 

Silence enveloped the room for a while. 

"Shadow, as an Auror, I believe you can secretly watch and guard Harry," Dumbledore said breaking the silence. "I believe that this show is only to move Harry closer into a trap that may lead to his death. Also, I want you to keep watch on our new professor, Mad-Eye Moody. I am beginning to have suspicions about him. Find out what drink he's been bringing around and drinking lately."

"Yes, sir," I said. "What about Igor Karkaroff?" 

"I'll be watching Igor this time," he said. "That is all, my dear. You may go."

I nodded, said my thanks, and turned around to go back to Percy and the others. 

"Shadow," Dumbledore called one last time. 

I turned back to him. 

"Be careful," he said. 

I smiled and nodded, then ran back to where I came from.
