Chapter 9: The Goblet of Fire and the Four Champions

NOTE: Here is Chapter 9! Sorry if it's not that good and that it was updated late. I kinda got lazy and busy. Anyway, hope you like it.

PS: There are some parts here that are from the Goblet of Fire. So, I give all the credits to J.K Rowling for Harry Potter and to Rick Riordan for the characters in Percy Jackson.

*Hogwarts*

~Shadow's POV~

Two days have passed since that accident on the Astronomy Tower. I'm still feeling nauseous and unstable, but other than that, I feel pretty fine. I told Percy and the others to stay quiet about me being a half-blood. If the word about that spreads, the Death Eater in the castle might know and send more spies into the castle to monitor each and every one of our moves.

Anyway, everyone was gathered in the Great Hall around the Goblet of Fire. We were all eager to see and know who are going to be the champions. The teachers and the facilitators of the Triwizard Tournament were lined in front.

"Well, the goblet is almost ready to make it's decision," Dumbledore said. "I estimate that it requires one more minute. Now, when the champions' names are called, I would ask them to please come to the top of the Hall, walk along the staff table, and go through into the next chamber where they will be recieving their first instructions."

He took out his wand and gave a great sweeping wave with it; at once, all the candles except those inside the carved pumpkins were extinguished, plunging them into a state of semidarkness. The Goblet of Fire now shone more brightly than anything in the whole Hall, the sparkling bright, bluey-whiteness of the flames almost painful to the eyes. Everyone watched, waiting.... A few people kept checking their watches.

"Wicked magic that old man's got, yeah?" Leo whispered to Harry. He always fancied calling Dumbledore 'old man' and to our surprise, Dumbledore doesn't really mind.

The flames inside the goblet turned red again. Sparks began to fly from it. Next moment, a tongue of flame shot into the air, a charred piece of parchment fluttered out of it - the whole room gasped.

The champions for Dumstrang was Viktor Krum, of course, while the champion for Beauxbatons was Fleur Delacour.

Some Beauxbatons girls were weeping and crying their eyes out that their make-ups smudged.

"Ugh. What a bunch of immature babies," Piper rolled her eyes. Hazel, Annabeth, Hermione, Ginny, and I laughed.

Now, all that everyone was waiting for was the Hogwarts champion. Deadly silence filled the Great Hall. Some students were leaning forward and gazing at the goblet as if it were some Potions test. Others at the back stood up and tiptoed to see.

Finally, the piece of parchment was spat out from the Goblet of Fire.

"Okay, mate, here it goes," Percy whispered.

Dumbledore caught the parchment.

"The Hogwarts champion," he said, "is Cedric Diggory!"

Almost immidiately, a loud uproar of cheers and applauses filled the Great Hall. Every single Hufflepuff had jumped to his or her feet, screaming and stamping, as Cedric made his way past them, grinning broadly. Then, he walked to our direction.

"This is for you," he whispered in my ear (actually, everyone around me heard his so called 'whisper), smiled, and winked at me. Next, he headed off toward the chamber behind the teachers' table. I realized that Nico was glaring daggers at him, his fists clenched. I walked to him and looked him in the eye.

"Hey, don't be upset," I soothed. "I don't like Cedric, remember? I like you." Fortunately, my statement softened his expression and unclenched his fists. I kissed him on the cheek and leaned on him. Then, I turned my attention back to the goblet.

Now, it spat out another piece of parchment. Everyone was so shocked, even Dumbledore fearfully caught the parchment. He stared at the name printed on it for quite a while.

Finally, he cleared his throat and read out - "Harry Potter."
