Chapter 62: The Dinner Party

John cleared his throat. "Sounds like a ghost story to me."

Holly looked confused. "So you're looking for the sight of the massacres?"

Elijah nodded, but Holly noticed that he looked a little nervous. "Call it curiosity."

Dinner was finished without any awkward pauses, they mostly talked about Elijah's fake past and Damon included some snarky comments, but much to Holly's relief dinner finished fine.

Damon stood up. "I have a bottle of Bourbon that I've just been dying to share, will you gentlemen care to join me in the study."

Alaric shook his head. "None for me thanks, nine bottles is my limit."

Elijah got up and faced Jenna and Holly. "Dinner was wonderful ladies as well as the company."

Holly faked nodded as her cell started buzzing she went into the hallway and answered it. "Hello, Stefan-wait slow down, what-no, not yet," Holly paled as Stefan said the last part of the message, if Damon used the dagger on Elijah he would die. "I'll tell him."

A few minutes later, they were back in the dining room table. Alaric and Jenna were in the kitchen getting dessert while Holly remain the dining room table with John, Elijah, and Damon.

It was obvious that Damon was pissed that John had left out the piece of information that the dagger would kill him because he was glaring at John. "Hey, Elijah did you know that John is Elena and Holly's biological dad/uncle. But of course neither of them can stand him and Holly is not family to him ever since she became a vampire so you can cross him from the endangered species list."

"Damon," she snapped.

"Yes, I'm aware." Elijah said. "And I believe that you're making Miss Holly uncomfortable."

"What I'd like to know Elijah, is how you intend on killing Klaus," John asked.

"Gentlemen and lady," Elijah said exasperated. "We should probably get cleared on something I have allowed you to live solely to keep Holly and Elena happy. I have allowed more specifically Elena to remain in her house and living her life as a courtesy. If you become a liability, I'll take her away from you and you will never see her again."

At that moment Alaric stood behind Elijah and jabbed the dagger in his heart, Elijah screamed and his skin started turning gray. Alaric pulled it out and stared at the shocked faces. "Get him out of here before Jenna comes back."

Damon nodded. "I'll take him down to the basement."

Holly could feel her pulse racing even though she and Damon were inside the Gilbert's lake house. They couldn't believe that they had made such a dumb mistake, they had removed the dagger and Elijah had come in search of Elena.

Holly could hear the conversation from downstairs.

"They shouldn't have done what they did." She said.

"The deal is off."

"I'm re-negotiating."

"You have nothing left."

Elena pulled out a knife and Elijah looked amused. "I'd like to see you lure Klaus in once he has heard that the doppelganger has bleed to death."

Elijah scoffed. "Stefan won't let you die."

"No, he won't maybe he'll feed me his blood and I'll kill myself like Katherine did, I'll become a vampire. So promise me that you won't hurt my friends and my sister even if they did try to hurt you."

"I'm sorry, Elena I'm going to have to call your bluff." Elena closed her eyes and stabbed the knife in her stomach, immediately blood started coming out and she fell to the floor. "No, no, you can keep your deal, let me heal you."

"Give me your word."

"I'll give you my word."

Elena limp towards him and as soon as she was in his arms she jabbed the dagger inside his heart, Elijah turned grey as he fell to the floor while Elena coughed blood.

"Elena," Holly bit her wrist and let the blood flow so that she could drink from it.

"Little tip." Damon said as he looked at Elijah. "Don't pull the dagger out."

Holly noticed something round and white spilling out of Elijah's pocket. She pulled it out. "Damon." It was the moonstone.

Holly and Damon were in his bed together cuddling after a long night, she raised her head and he kissed her. "Well, everything went good didn't it, in the end?"

"Yep," he squeezed her arm. "Just remind me to kill John"

Holly laughed. "I don't think I would mind."

"Well, aren't you two adorable?"

Holly's smile faded as she turned to the doorway and saw Katherine standing in her dusty dress with her hair tangled. "What are you doing here? You're supposed to be in the tomb, Elijah compelled you-"

Katherine smirked. "I knew that if I ask Damon not kill Elijah, that's exactly what he'll do. Little known facts Originals can compel vampires, but as soon as their dead their compulsion wears off. I'm not your enemy, Holly I'm here to help."
