><Aphmau><

The tingling sensation and returned to my hands as I stepped out onto the stage, followed by screams and cheers. It's funny how far I've been brought from living in the small town of Phoenix Drop, all the way to the city of Scaleswind to pursue my dreams. From how far I've come, the rush of adrenaline was all I had ever been accustomed to. I loved it.

My hand clutched the microphone as I raised my other to wave to the crowds, who screamed louder than before. I looked backstage and saw two of my best friends, Katelyn and Kawaii~Chan, cheering me on. Kawaii~Chan was undoubtedly more enthusiastic than Katelyn, judging by her ADHD she had left untreated for God knows what reason.

The music to the first song began to play, causing my stomach to churn. I didn't know why, but I still got nervous whenever I performed, mainly because I was just a regular person who happened to be famous all across the planet. Most people failed to see that for an unbeknownst reason.

My voice echoed around the concert hall, a smile creeping onto my lips at the sounds of the crowd singing along. This was the main reason I did what I did, to enjoy my hobby and make people happy in the process. Hearing people sing along with my words not only caused me to realize that my fans were happy, but also that their voices were causing me joy and pride in what I did. I didn't want this to end.

"Kawaii~Chan thinks Aphmau~Senpai did wonderful!" Kawaii~Chan cheered to her heart's extent when I stepped off the stage. Her fluorescent bubblegum hair was bouncing joyously around her shoulders with her movements.

Katelyn clapped her hand on my shoulder for a short moment before removing and saying, "One of your best performances yet. Now at least we all have a break."

I nodded with Katelyn's words, crossing my arms in front of me and observing the actions backstage. "And now I have the time to work on my upcoming album."

"Pardon me! Excuse me! Sorry about that. Oh, Aphmau! There you are." Nicole, my agent, called from across backstage. She hastily walked towards my direction and halted in front of me. She brought her hands upward and began tying her long red hair into a bun. "Listen, we have a meeting Tuesday with the agency to discuss about giving some kid a record deal. Laurence doesn't know what to do, so he wanted to gather his most trusted clients and staff to help him on his decision. Nothing big, though," she said all in one breath, counting her fingers to make sure she got all her points across.

"I'll be there. What's their name anyways?"

Nicole shrugged, "Only Laurence and Dante know."

I have a curt nod as she finished speaking. I brought my feet to step past her and towards the dressing room, changing out of my show clothes and into my comfortable outfit of a galaxy-printed sweater and black leggings, paired with black boots. I sat at my vanity for a while, waiting for the crowd to die down like I usually did. I spent the meantime scrolling through my phone at the texts from Laurence, my boss.

Laurence: Morning, love. Meeting Tuesday at 10. Good luck during your show!

Laurence: Don't forget to bring your new original to the meeting, also.

I clicked my phone off and threw it into my bag, throwing the strap onto my shoulder. I heaved a sigh, stepping out of the dressing room and to the back exit, where my car was parked in a dark, dainty parking lot. I tossed my purse into the passenger's seat and climbed into the driver's, shifting the car into drive and pulling out of the parking lot and into the grand city of Scaleswind, the streets busy with the concert just letting out.

After another half hour of driving through traffic-jammed streets, I made it to a suburban area on the outskirts of the city and into the driveway of my home, a purple and white split-level home. It had been my home for almost a year, having bought it once I adopted my children in the summer of the previous year.

"Aphmau!" I heard my caretaker, Zoey, express a warm greeting when I stepped into the house. She was standing at the kitchen sink, washing the dishes that had piled up over the last couple of days. "How was the concert?"

"It went well! Are Malachi and Levin tucked in?" I set my purse on the dining room table, observing Zoey as she continued to wash the many dishes.

She nodded, still focused on her task. Malachi and Levin were my two adopted sons. Levin was left at my doorstep when I still lived in Phoenix Drop, my hometown. Malachi, I met on the streets of Pikoro, another town in our region of Ru'aun.

"I'm going to go on to bed. I've been up since early this morning." With another heavy sigh and my hand running through my hair, I stepped aside to walk on up the staircase and into my bedroom, which was across from the boys' room.

I changed into my sleepwear and climbed under the covers, staring at the roof of the canopy bed. The reoccurring thoughts of tonight's concert erupted my thoughts, guiding my mind into the deep abyss of sleep. Eventually, my mind shut down and fell into rest.
