Chapter 20: Tangled up
you are not mine,
but sometimes
i pretend that
you wish you where

i create this idea
that you secretly
want me

and I often forget
it's just something
i've made up

you do not want me
and you are not mine.

"Only one more day until your birthday!" Mel sang loudly as we walked down the halls. "I have your party all planned out from the color of balloons to the flavor of your birthday cake." She beamed.

I rolled my eyes but couldn't hide the smile that crept onto my face.

"Mel really you don't have to go all out." I said.

"Oh but I do. It's your 18th birthday! You are gonna be an adult."

"It's Charlie's birthday too. We are twins." I reminded her.

"Oh I know I'll throw his name on the banner and cake. Give him a pack of bud light and your good." She waved me off.

I laughed.

"What ever you say but your birthday party is gonna be better than the rest." I said. "I'm going to beat your party skills."

She snorted. "I doubt that, no one is as good as me." She smiled.

"What is no one as good at?" Caleb asked as him and Kyle joined us.

"Party planning." She replied.

"Who's party?" Caleb asked, a small smile forming at his lips.

I shook my head rolling my eyes.

"Your best friends!" Mel cried clearly not getting that Caleb is messing with her.

"Kyle? His birthday was August his already an adult." Caleb said slapping Kyle's shoulder. Kyle grinned going along with it.

"No Reagan's." Mel said pointing to me.

Caleb laughed.

"Melanie when are you ever gonna learn." He shook his head.

"She didn't grow up with you she didn't see it." I defended.

"Didn't see what?" She asked.

I shook my head chuckling. Before I could try and explain Luke had her by her waist and kissed her lips.

"Please save that for when I'm not around." Kyle said disgusted.

Luke smirked at him and led Mel away probably to make out in a corner.

"Really though I got you the best gift ever." Caleb said as he took a seat beside me on the bench I was sitting at.

"No I did." Kyle argued.
