"Put your heart in it, we can go the distance. The sky is limit."

We drove to his parents house in silence. I couldn't find the rights words to tell him. I know that I could have told him anything and he would have been okay with it, but that wasn't what I wanted.

He reached over and grabbed my hand and I have it a squeeze. I wanted him to know that I would be there for him at all times. Somehow I think he already knew that.

"And here it is," Lucas said, pulling into a driveway.

He still knew where they lived off the top of his head. He never even made on wrong turn.

I gasped, "Their house is huge."

"It's funny the house always looked so full from the outside by once I was inside I never felt more alone."

I knew how much pain this was causing for him. I never wanted him to do this.

I asked, "Are you sure you want to go in here?"

"I know for sure that I don't want to go in there, but I do need to go in there for Quinn."

"Can I just go in there for you."

"You can't go in there alone. My parents are not people that you want to face alone."

"Well then let's do this."

We both got out of his car slowly. He took as much time as he would making his way towards me.

I grabbed his hand and help it tightly as we walked up the driveway. When we got to the front door Lucas just stood there. Maybe he regretted coming back here.

I knocked on the door for him. A few seconds later the door flung open and a lady stood behind.

"Lucas! Lucas is that you!" A southern woman said, "Mark get down here!"

"Hello mother," Lucas replied.

Lucas' mom turned her attention towards me now.

"Now Lucas who is this girly?" His mom asked.

I cleared my throat," I'm Maya."

"Bianca what is all the yelling about!" Someone yelled from the inside.

Lucas turned toward me and mouthed sorry. I have his hand another squeeze.

"Mark look who came back to see us," his mother said.

Lucas' dad came to the door and looked at Lucas first then me. He gave me a weird smile and then shot his eyes back over to Lucas.

His dad coughed, " Lucas."

"Father."

"Well why don't you all come in and make yourself at home," Lucas' mom said.

She opened the door up fully and I followed Lucas inside the house. I saw no pictures of his sister anywhere, but I did see pictures of Lucas everywhere.

"Look the only reason I came down here was to get Quinn's stuff. I'm not staying here any longer than that," Lucas explained.

"You say that now, but I'm sure with all the money you'll be making when you become a vet, you'll want to live here," Bianca said.

Mark added, "I'm sure it would be a great place for you to settle down with a nice woman."

"Are you seeing anyone dear?" Bianca asked.

"Of course he's not seeing anyone. Just look at him, he's a mess," Mark spat.

Now I was getting mad.

"I can ask Paige if her daughter is still single. You remember Paige right? She was such a lovely young lady. I can see you two have all kinds of beautiful children," Bianca grinned.

They were only saying this to make me mad. Or to make him mad. They could see us holding hands right now.

"No. I don't need you to step me up with anyone, because I have already found the girl that I want to be with," Lucas refuted.

"We'll see how long that lasts," his dad scoffed.

Lucas' parents suck. I couldn't remember if they ever named his parents so I just made up some names that I thought would fit mean parents roles.

Merry Christmas!!!!
