“Who is the ruler of the Lycans of the Finnish, Sweden and Denmark Lycan packs?” Andrew asked.

“Who is Ivan Bolívar?” Adriannah replied.

"Wrong, he is the ruler of  the United States." Andrew said. "You haven't been studying, cousin."

"How can I study, when I am studying other things?" She whined.

"Do you want me to make you run another thirty-five laps around the perimeter of London?" He threatened.

She loved her cousin, Andrew, more than anything in the world, but the constant lessons on manners to be a young heiress, leadership to her people and annoying battle strategies… killed her brain. From Monday to Saturday was her personal hell, with Andrew and on Sunday was not so much her best day either. Her parents kept her busy inside the War Office in the Vampire Embassy, which she took the liberty of zoning out when they talked about the Lycans or in other terms werewolves. Who marked their territory in Wales, England, while the vampires had London.

Adriannah did not see what was so wrong with them since her own body could turn into a wolf, at her will. She could not even understand why her people and the werewolves have a treaty and the precautions of war were getting ridiculous beyond reason. No one needed an army as huge as Africa’s population. To her knowledge, the werewolves weren’t making army’s the size of Australia, they were just acting calm.

The vampires shared one-half of England and the werewolves the other. If they stayed on their own side, everything was okay. No one bothered anyone; they even walked down the same street and do not even make eye contact. What was the big threat?

"There was no death, recently or anyway of the treaty being broken in any shape, way or form. Everyone wants peace and no war; even though there was tension they all want no trouble." Adriannah said looking down at the name of new Protectors that joined the army.

"Heiress, but the precautions of war need to be looked over. You don’t know when they might strike, ever since the Alpha was murdered, don’t you think they might want revenge on us?" One of the Advisors said.

"I am looking at it, but the Alpha was killed when I was two. How you know what of our kin killed him? Unless you are saying you wanted to start a war from the beginning?" She raised an eyebrow. "Look, I want all these precautions on a standstill and no more talk of the werewolves. Unless its an emergency." She stood up from her chair. “This meeting is over.”

“You can’t call this meeting over Adriannah.” Her mother snapped from the other side of the huge room.

“It is dismissed mother.” She looked at her mother sternly and walked to the window. “Last time, I checked I was in charge of London’s affairs.”

Once everyone was dismissed from the meeting and she could finally go home to her apartment. Away from her controlling life and her lessons, that killed every cell in her brain. But as soon as she hopped into her Audi R8 and speed off, her mother called her on her Blackberry to report back the War Office.

Did I forget to push my chair in or say good-bye to the council?

Climbing out her car with a sigh, she re-entered the fifty-six story building, taking the elevator to the thirtieth floor. When she got to the War Office, there stood her parents and the person she always wanted to met, Abraham Fredrick, the ruler of all vampire nations all over the world.

“You must be the young heiress my council has told me about.” He took her hand and kissed her knuckles. She bowed and glanced at her parents, who wore elegant clothes, compared to her casual jeans and t-shirt. She was so underdressed. “Your parents have told me that you share an extraordinary family bloodline.”

Is he talking about my shape shifting? Now they choose to show off my “unique trait”? She thought herself, trying not to roll her eyes.

Ever since her grandmother discovered she had the ancient bloodline curse of the Morpherias, her whole family treated her differently. She was not like normal vampires that could hide in the shadows they make and only survive by drink blood from their human host. She was more like the one who could run fast, drink animal blood and still manage to eat regular mortal food in great amounts.

“My shape shifting, I assume, my Lord.” She faked a smile and glanced at the ever so proud, full of themselves parents.

“If I may ask I would love to see the transformation myself. It’s been over a century since I have seen the last shape shifting vampire. I am glad that .”

Taking a deep breath, Adriannah went down on all fours and every bone in her body shifting in different places. She could remember the first time it happened, on her thirteenth birthday during her first formal. Her family and close friends watched as she screamed and cringed at the sound of bones breaking and relocating. After the transformation was over, everyone thought, she was the daughter of a werewolf, until her fangs began to grow, when she came back to her real body.

“Amazing,” Abraham breathed. “She will be perfect for the communications agreement with the werewolves.”

Still on all fours and wolfish, Adriannah looked at her parents whose faces showed utter shock, then back at Fredrick, who smiled. She felt like growling a laugh. Bet that, I am going to meet an actual werewolf. Wait, what am I doing?

Changing back, she curiously asked what the communications agreement with the werewolves.

“As you are aware of, the vampires and werewolves have been at each others’ throat for quite some time, even with the treaty being put in about a hundred years ago. As future heir of this region in London, I think you are capable of taking care of yourself, as your cousin and Mentor, Andrew James has stated.”

“Yes I am very much capable of taking care of myself.” She looked at her mother, who fumed, next to her father.

“Tomorrow night you will be accompanying me at the Opera house, here to meet and discuss things with the Alpha of Wales. Are you willing to go alone with this?” He smiled.

She could not believe she would be making deals with werewolves, unable hide her excitement and jumped up and down, but quickly collected herself and accepted the offer. When Abraham left, her mother confronted her, ruining her excitement. “I will not have you socializing with those dogs.” She narrowed her eyes and wrinkled her nose.

“I don’t see father acting up like you.”

“I don’t care what your father does. I will not have you going there with those mongrels. The sight of them being on this side of town, I forbid you!”

“How can you forbid me mother, aren't I a grown woman.”

“You live under my rules.”

“No, I live under Andrew’s rules and my own.”

“You are not those animals!” Her mother’s voice rang in her sensitive ears. "I will not have this!"

“Dearest mother if you have not forgotten I am sort of like them.” She sighed, brushing off her mother’s anger. “Besides isn’t this our people want? Peace.” Adriannah started walking to the door.

Ignoring the yelling, she exited the War Office, with the biggest smile on her face.
