"And though where the road then takes me,
I cannot tell
We came all this way
But now comes the day
To bid you farewell"
----- "The Last Goodbye"
"Darcie!" Hunter yelled. "Tori!"
The girls looked up at the screaming blonde coming out onto the deck.
"Yes, Hunter?" Darcie asked so casually.
"Oh. You two are here," he mumbled to himself.
"Can we help you?" Tori asked.
"Yeah. Travis is looking for you two," he explained.
The girls stood up and walked back into the base. Sure enough, Travis looked up and waved his hand for them to come over. They approached him.
"Alright girls. I was looking over the map. I saw this building, I think it's an old boutique, and I want you two to go explore it," Travis instructed.
Darcie and Tori nodded. The two of them quickly packed up and left the base.
"Do you find it odd that Travis decided on a location for us?" Tori asked.
"Yes but I've grown to know that it isn't worth fighting with him. He always pulls bloodlines into this and he isn't fun anymore."
The two kept walking until they saw a faded sign above the old boutique.
"Ready?" Tori asked.
"Do you even have to ask?"
The girls noticed the doors had metal bars covering them. Darcie handed Tori her backpack so she could move the bars and get into the building. As soon as they were in, metal doors collapsed over the bars and windows and lots sirens started blaring.
"Good to know that after ten years, the alarm system still works!" Tori yelled over the sirens.
"I'll go shut them off," Darcie sighed.
Darcie went into the back room and looked for the control box. Once she saw it, she turned and ran to it. She used her nails to pop the box open. Inside was a mess of wires. She grabbed a fistful and pulled them all out. The alarms stopped blaring.
"Well that-"
She turned around and her eyes went wide. She and Tori were stuck in a building that had an infestation.
Hunter suddenly shot into a straight sitting position. He was no longer hunched over.
"What's up?" Dawson asked curiously.
"Oh shit," Hunter cursed.
The group looked at him like he was crazy. Even this was out of the normal for the weirdest member of the group.
"Oh shit," he said again.
Hunter jumped to his feet and dashed for the exit. Once he was outside, he was sprinting.
"Did you leave your oven on?" Kaylie yelled after him.
Darcie sent her knee into the head of a walker. Tori punched a walker in its face before ducking to avoid being bitten.
"Behind you!" Tori screamed.
Darcie whipped around just in time to kick a walker in it's chin.
"Thanks. But it's you who needs to watch behind you!"
Tori whipped around to punch whatever was coming her way.
"Tori!" Darcie yelled.
The infestation was dealt with. Darcie was breathing heavy as she pushed her hair off her face. It was clinging to her using a mix of sweat and walker blood as its adhesive.
