Hanako's pov

"What if he were to try and destroy Konoha?"

"Who will you choose to protect if that happens? Sasuke or Konoha?"

"I want you to promise me that you'll try and stop him no matter what, if he tries to destroy the village."

"Why do you care about what he does?"

"I have my reasons... so are you going to or not?"

"Fine. I promise."

The last thing I saw were Itachi's lips curving up into a smile before it went all black...

My eyes shot open.

I sat up and looked around, breathing heavily.

I was in my room in the hideout.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

I'd almost forgotten that day.

"I know you've kept all your promises but how do you know that you can trust Sasuke?"

I made a promise to him...

I keep all of my promises... right?

"I want you to promise me that you'll try and stop him no matter what if he tries to destroy the village."

My body began to shake as my eyes filled with tears.

"Damn it..." I said. "I've already made up my mind. I can't change it now..."

I never thought that anything like this would happen.

I shuddered as I thought of that man grinning at me.

Jikken Hitoshi.

If I stop now then he'll have won.

If I let him get to me then I'll break my promise...

"I always keep my promises. I always keep my promises. I always keep my promises.."

What am I going to do now then?

Keep my promise of course. Right?

I opened my eyes.

"That's it," I said. I always keep my promises."

'I promise that I'll stop him Itachi. I will save him and the village.'

No matter how much I hate the man who murdered my family, I still loved Sasuke more. He is more important to me than revenge.

Maybe Madara didn't understand that and that's why he thinks that something like this would hold me back.

I will stop Sasuke.

Not just to keep my promise to Itachi but for Sasuke as well. Seeing him go down this path of hatred was horrible.

One can only hold so much hatred inside of them.

I stood up, deciding to get some fresh air.

Outside my room I walked past Madara who was staring at me.

"Where do you think you're going?" he asked.

"Outside."

"For what?" he said, threateningly.

"For air. It's stuffy in this hideout," I answered.

He kept silent and watched as I walked out.

I stood outside for just a few minutes and took in the silence all around me.

I knew that Madara still suspected me.

I wasn't about to do anything that'd make him even more suspicious.

He had Zetsu watching me whenever he couldn't.

After standing outside for another few minutes, I decided to go back inside.

I noticed that Madara was no longer in the room.

Instead I saw Sasuke in black robes sitting on a chair.

His eyes were wrapped in bandages.

"Sasuke?"

His head immediately turned towards me.

I approached him carefully.

"Are you alright?" I asked him.

"Yeah," was his short answer.

I reached out and touched his shoulder.

"Hanako..." he began.

"What?"

"What are you going to do about that man? The one who killed your family. Are you going to exact revenge on him?"

"I... I don't know, Sasuke," I answered.

He sighed.

"He's the one who murdered your family in cold blood. Why don't you know?" he said, coldly.

I didn't answer.

"Don't you remember what he did, Hanako?"

I closed my eyes.

Of course I remembered.

Every night my dreams forced me to remember...
