Hook, Line and Sink

I rub my face with my hands as I stare at the picture as I groan "You've got to be fucking kidding me. This is some kind of joke right?" and I look at the picture again to make sure, yep it's him.

The guy from the bar that Eric scared off.

What was him name again? Shit I didn't pay attention. Shauna. Shauna would know. I go to get ready and look for her when there's a knock at my door. I open it to see Four staring back at me. "glad to see you're still alive" I mutter to him "Can I come in? I stood to the side and allowed him in, "What's wrong with you?"

"Can't I See my best friend without a reason?" I take this in and nod, accepting defeat "Ok" He grins and sits down on my couch. I make two drinks and hand one to him as I sit beside him.

"So how's the control room?" I ask making small talk and he chuckles "eventful, never realized how much drama escalated around this place til I went there" I laugh as I look at him.

"That reminds me on why I came here" and I look at him "here we go.." and he skeptically looks at me "Seriously, the girl who left Eric's apartment earlier seems to really 'love'you, so much in fact she's got it out for you and is asking around about you" I laugh cutting him off, "she doesn't know who I am exactly does she?" he glares at me "be serious Jade, you don't know what kind of damage she can cause"

I laugh again "Please Four, I can handle her just fine" and he stood up, obviously done with this conversation. "You sound just like him now" I looked at him "Eric" he finished and "why? because I know I can take her? I already broke her damn arm so why can't I be confident!"

Four looked at me as he opened the door "he's changing you and it's not for the better" I looked at him as he glared at me "I love him Tobias" and he flinched at the name "Then I can't be in your life because he and I cannot get along Jadence, this is goodbye" and he slammed the door.

I threw the glass in my hand at the door as I screamed in frustration. I felt water hit my legs and felt my face, I was crying. I just lost my best friend because he will not accept who I love. What a best friend huh?

I eventually made my way to the pit and found Shauna. Might as well ask her.

"Hey Shauna I have a quick question?" She smiled and nodded "What's up?"

"That guy you tried fake hooking me up with the other night, what was his name?"

"Shawn. Why?"

I shook my head "Just wondering, someone was talking about him earlier and I figured I should just ask what his name was for future reference" I felt bad lying to her but what am I supposed to do? I have a mission to complete.

"He's right over there" she motions and I look around to see him looking at clothing. I smirk at the opportunity given to me.

"Thanks for the heads up girl I'll catch you later"

I head into the shop and act like I'm shopping and take in his appearance, He's actually not bad looking, he's about the same height as Eric, not as buff, his eyes are blue but they aren't appealing like his, his hair is a reddish brown. I sat there and mentally face palm myself as I realize I'm comparing people to Eric now and i obviously have it bad. I breathe in and make my way over to "accidentally" run into him and almost shoving him to the ground, he turns around to yell and stops, smiling at me "hey you"

I smile back "Hey. How's it going?" he nodded "Great actually, just looking around" "Yeah, oh hey sorry for Eric the other night, he's pretty controlling" he nods "It's all ok really" I nod "Anyways, I just wanted to say hello and apologize so have a good day" I turned around to leave hoping he'd take the bait

"Wait! Would you like to go get something to drink with me?" I smile as I thought Hook, line and sink. I turn around "I would love to"

We sat at the bar in the club for about 2 hours just talking. He seemed normal enough so I just went on with it. I go to leave and I freeze, in the pit a ways back, was Eric, glaring. "Oh shit" I whisper as I took off after him. '

He waited for me and I felt like a child walking to their parents after being caught doing something bad. "Hey you" I look at him as he looks at me just inhaling and exhaling as if trying to keep his cool. I grab his hand and he tenses then jerks it away from me.

"Why are you with him?" he growls "I was talking to him for reasons I cannot say. I need you to follow me so I can explain better Eric" I grab his hand and we walk to my apartment.

I collapse on my couch as he leans against the wall looking at me "Max wants me to get to know him to figure out a few things for him"

"What for?" I flinch as his harsh tone "He thinks he's divergent" Eric's eyes soften as I hand him the file and he looks at it and sighs "I'm sorry. Seeing how he looks at you pisses me off" I smirk at him "It's ok just chill out and ask before you flip next time" he leans down putting his arms on both sides of my head holding onto the couch and leaning forward "fair enough" and kisses me.

Before anything can get heated, there's a knock at the door. I fix myself and open it. There's Max standing there looking at me smirking as he looks in at Eric "Am I interrupting anything?" I shake my head "No sir, please come in" He walks in and nods at Eric "The meeting fo rmonday has been postponed to Wednesday but Jeanine asked for you two to come tonight and learn about her new program we'll hopefully be helping with concerning divergents" I look at Eric who's already looking at me with a smirk.

"Why does she want us?" He asks and Max inhales as if irritated "You're former Erudite, she trusts you more and I'm giving you two all access to the information plus I need you to seal the deal" We nod "So when do we leave?"
