the freshman did not stop for anybody
her indifference a punch to the ego
for the rowdy boys hollering at her
in the crowded hallway of students
not that it deterred them from barking
until the teacher calls them for detention(she gives them a smirk and her middle finger)
she knew she was pretty to a fault
the unwanted advances growing into
a pile of lovesick men at her heels
a bunch of hooligans wanting nothing
but her shiny, aquamarine nail polish
on their arms, at the base of their neck
above thighs and around backs
like a caveman trophy of football
disgusted, she turns away from lustglares from petty jealous girlfriends
or dirty sneer from college professors
the married men buying her drinks and
the distrustful wives messaging her socialsbeauty can feel like a curse sometimes
unless you wield it into a weapon(the pretty girl does not want to be owned)
