Rain and Rivers voices blended so well together, the song they just sang called “Note To A Friend” was absolutely stunning it managed to give me goosebumps as I sat and watched them. They were all so into the music that they were playing, especially River I couldn't help but stare at times, our eyes met several times with it ending in him giving me a small smile as he played the guitar flawlessly.
After hearing a couple more songs, me and Rain entered the house again to go and get drinks for us all. I took a seat at the kitchen island while Rain gathered 5 apple juices together for us all, as she was pouring the juice, I noticed she was smiling at me, I couldn't help but laugh “What?” I asked softly. She shrugged and looked back towards the end of the house where the garage was, “River” was all she said at first, I didn't know how to react so I just kept quiet with a small smile planted on my face. Rain started to laugh softly, “He has a girlfriend” was all she said. I kept the smile on my face even though I didn't feel like smiling at that, this was stupid I didn't even know River, never-mind being disappointed at this news. “Ohhh I don't understand” I said still smiling and with a small shrug. Rain walks over to me smiling and places her arm around my shoulders, “I saw the way you two looked at each other......and I know what River likes”, I looked round to met hers stunning green eyes and we both smiled and laughed, and began our walk back to the garage.
“You're new round here aren't you?”, River asked as we all sat round on the many sofas in the garage/recording studio. I nod, “Yeah, moved here about 3 and a half weeks ago from Boise, Idaho”. “How you finding it round here?”, Josh K asked as he started to light up a cigarette. “It's better than I expected it to be.....I feel quite free out here if that makes sense”, I smiled, and as I smiled I noticed River was smiling at me to which instantly made my smile go bigger. Stop it Autumn he has a girlfriend and he is at least 2/3 years older and he is your friends brother, no good would come out of this.......but he is so beautiful.
We sat there for a good hour before we heard a car pull up, and moments later Joaquin, River and Rains younger brother came bouncing in. I've met Joaquin before a couple of times, he was 13 which meant he was a couple of years younger than myself and Rain. Rain and Joaquin could have been twins, both dark haired, with strong features and amazing green eyes, while River was had softer features and lighter hair, with stunning blue eyes. 10 minutes later, Heart walked in, Heart was River, Rain and Joaquin' mom, she was such a warm, lovely person. “Hello Autumn, how are you today?”, she smiled as she embraced me, “I'm good thanks, how are you?”. “I'm as happy as ever”, she smiled as she pulled away. She sat and spoke to us before, before River, Rain and the two Josh's played a song for her to hear. I took a quick glance at her while they were playing, she was practically glowing with pride and clapped enthusiastically when the song ended. On her way out she turned and looked at me, “Have you got a ride home Autumn?”, I nodded “Yeah my mom said to just give her a call”. She smiled at me warmly, “There's no rush at all Autumn, and I'm sure River will drop you off home when he drops everyone off”, she said looking at River, I instantly turned to him as well where he stood with a smile on his face. “It would be my pleasure”, he smiled as he stared yet again into my eyes.
An hour and a half later I was sat in Rivers car, with him and the two Josh's, Rain decided to conveniently stay behind, as she gave me a hug goodbye she whispered in my ear “Be good”, to which we both started laughing. As we drove along I assumed he would drop me off first but it didn't seem like we were heading to my house, after a 10 minute drive we arrived at a house that appeared to be Josh K's house as he turned to us all and say bye and thank you and left the car. 5 minutes later we pulled up outside another house and Josh G followed the same routine as the other Josh had done 5 minutes previously. It was now just me and River alone, my heart started to beat and I worried for a minute whether he would be able to hear it it was that loud. I noticed him sneak a look at me to which I stole one of him which caused his mouth to turn up into a smile, “Rain must really like you, she rarely brings people to the house”, he said after a couple of moments. I smiled at him, “She's lovely.....she's helped me settle in round here”. He smiled, “That's good......I don't take it you've seen much of Gainesville yet?”, he looked at me briefly. I shrugged, “Not really, just the main attractions I guess”. This made him laugh softly, “Main attractions in Gainesville are few and far between......it's a beautiful place though, we've only been here 6 months but I feel like I've been here forever”. I smiled at him once he had finished speaking, “Feels like home for you then?”, I asked. He nodded with a big smile on his face, “Definitely”, and then he turned to me and said, “And it will for you soon enough”.
We spoke some more about Gainesville, when we suddenly arrived at my house. “Is this right?”, he asked looking over at me. “Yeah, thanks”. He pulled the car up outside my house and the car descended into silence and a sense of sudden longing. I didn't want to leave, so I turned to face him to find he was already sat facing me, this caused us both to smile at each other. “Thanks for driving me home, I really appreciate it.....oh and for letting me listen to you play.....you're really talented”, I smiled. This caused him to smile so wide, “Thank you”. We just sat there for a few moments just looking at each other, the silence was one that you didn't want to end as it was just perfect. “Autumn......you've got a beautiful name......its suits you”, he whispered. As soon as he had said this, my cheeks began to blush and I looked down into my lap suddenly embarrassed, I then felt his fingers under my chin pushing my head softly up to meet his eyes once again. “Thank you”, I managed to get out, I didn't even know if he had heard me or not. “It's true, don't be embarrassed”, he smiled once more, he fingers now trailing my cheek. His touch was so soft and sensual, our eyes locked for what seemed an eternity before I realised my fingers were now entwined with his, I could feel us inching closer together. He smelt amazing, I wanted him more than anything......I've never felt like this before...........then Rain popped up in my head “He has a girlfriend” the words rang in my head causing me to pull away from him completely. The smile fell from both our faces, “You ok?”, he asked, I nodded and started to open the car door, “Yeah, I just better be getting in, thanks again for the lift....it was nice to meet you River”, and before he got a chance to respond I ran up the drive to my house, and as I shut the door behind me I could see his car was still there, I stayed there for a few moments until it had drove off. “I'm home” I shouted to my parents before I ran upstairs to my bedroom, I instantly lay down on my bed.
What had just happened.....this couldn't happen, it just couldn't. There is already to much going on....but I have never wanted someone as much as I have wanted him. At the age of 15 years could I really know if he was worth the struggle it would be. River wasn't just known to me, he was known to the world as “Chris Chambers” the strong good-looking kid in the hit film “Stand By Me”. I had never saw Stand By Me as I had assumed it was a boys film, I had only know that Rains brother was an actor when some girl in our art class came and asked her about River, but I had never known who he was......maybe it was better off that way.
