XXXVII - More Than I Admit

Start from the beginning

I was screaming loudly from the pain, and I fell down on all fours while Elijah tried to reach over to me. Whether he was going to hold my hand or try and somehow stop the pain, I didn't know. But what I did know was that Davina broke his forearm when he did.

"And you!" she shouted, moving closer to Elijah. She moved him so that he was forced to be up on his knees. "You looked me in the eyes and lied to my face! Pretended you wanted to help me! You call yourself the noble one, but you're a killer, just like your brother. For a thousand years, you've fed on innocent blood. Why don't you choke on it?"

Blood began to force it's way up Elijah's throat and spill onto the floor, and strangled gargling noises came from Elijah's mouth as his body convulsed. He began to fall to the ground, dead for the time being.

Davina looked over at me to see my nails scraping at the concrete.

"Davina, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to hurt you! I'm just trying to help you!" I shouted in between deep and heaving breaths. "Yes, I chose Marcel and my family over you, but do you really think that I don't know what it's like to have power you can't control?!"

She paused for a second, then just glared at me and raised her hand again, making the heat surge in my body even more. She walked over to Marcel. "And you," she said, tears forming in her eyes. "I trusted you. I loved you! But you were just using me to stay in power. You don't care about me."

"You're wrong," he stated.

"When you lost to Klaus, you handed me over like some trophy. Maybe I should boil you in bronze."

"I care. I took you in like you were my own blood."

Davina looked like she was about to give in, right before a stake went right through Marcel's chest.

"Come on now, love," Rebekah said nonchalantly. "Don't tell me you were falling for that. Isn't it time for us girls to have a chat?" She stayed quiet for a moment, then looked around at the men who were all lying on the ground unconscious. "Now that, is impressive. And well deserved in my opinion. But you really shouldn't be doing that to Roseia. I know for a fact that she is one of the reasons why the witches haven't found and sacrificed you yet."

Davina looked over at me, her expression turning from angry to understanding. "You're the reason that Marcel made the rules... Aren't you?"

"Yes, she is. Now kindly stop that, Davina," Rebekah said, walking over to me.

I felt the burning stop, and took in a deep and needed breath. "Jesus christ!"

"You could have stopped her, too," Rebekah said.

"I didn't want to hurt her," I muttered, and Rebekah held a hand out to me to help me stand up.

Davina seemed to be confused, but now understood what was happening. "I'm sorry."

"No, don't be. Trust me, I've had to deal with people's' anger towards Klaus for centuries now," I sighed. "Just don't do it again, okay?"

She nodded a little, and Rebekah turned to Davina. "Now, before you turn on me, I have a surprise for you."

With her saying that, one of the doors opened and shut, and Joshua came into the middle of the compound. He looked terrified.

"Josh! What are you doing?! Get out of here!" Davina told him.

Rebekah sped forwards, wrapping her hand around Josh's throat while Josh questioned what she was doing. "Now, if I were Klaus, I would rip Josh's head from his neck, feed it to a nightwalker, and that would be the end of your friend," as I suspected, she was getting to a point. She let go of Josh, then spoke again. "But hurting people is such a boyish thing to do. Like how Klaus compelled your fiddler on the roof. And while I am many things, I am not my brother. It's okay Timothy! You can come down, no one's gonna hurt you!"

"He told me I couldn't climb down off this beam," Tim told her.

"Then don't climb, silly. Am I the only smart on in the room? Jump!" Rebekah glanced over at me, and started walking forwards, but I just smiled and went forwards.

"I got it," I said.

I walked over to the spot where Timothy was stuck, and opened my arms for him. "Come on down, kiddo!" He jumped off the beam, and I caught his suit collar when he was a foot from the ground, then set him down safely. "There we go. No permanent damage."

Timothy looked up at the beam with a scared and confused expression, then looked back at me. Davina moved forwards, and he turned to hug her tightly.

"Davina," he said. "How did you do all that? How did I even get here?" he sounded absolutely terrified.

"I'll explain everything," she promised, then hugged him again. They both pulled away, and looked over at Rebekah and I. "Why are you doing this?"

"Seems to me that you're the one holding all the cards. And you don't know who to trust. I've just proven that you can trust both of us, now I'd like to show you one more thing. It won't take long. You can bring your friends."

I looked over at Elijah, glancing back at Rebekah before I went forwards and bit into my wrist. I knelt down in front of him, putting my wrist at his lips and watching as his unconscious body realized what I was doing and took the blood I was giving him. It would make him wake up faster.

I stood up, and ran after them all. I went in front of Josh, Davina, and Tim, and followed after Rebekah, hearing their footsteps behind us.

"Rebekah, what are you going to show her?"

She sighed, then answered. "The garden."

And, as I continued to walk, I realized something. I had barely even thought about it. I had given my blood to Elijah instead of Klaus. I had given my blood to my best friend's brother instead of my best friend.

And that got me thinking... Did I care for Elijah more than I cared to admit?
