the only reason she zoned in on Emerald was because of the fact that she was teammates with Mercury, and he did something to her husband prior to this match.
so here she was now in like a staff tunnel or maintenance tunnel or something. she didn't know. she was just walking. the commentator's voice echoed loudly throughout.
she stopped when someone appeared infront of her. Mercury. what was he doing here? and why?
"Mercury?"
the commentator's voice echoed again. announcing the competitors of the current match. Penny Vs Pyrrha. at first she was happy to hear their names. but then something flashed in her mind.
Pyrrha's semblance....and what Penny really is.
'no!'
"oh..polarity versus metal. that can be bad." Mercury suddenly spoke as if smug. like he knew what could come, what could happen. but another thing...how did he know that Penny wasn't actually a human?
Ruby;s gaze hardened.
"what's going on." she stated, clearly not looking to play games anymore. she was serious now.
Mercury's only response was silence.
"what did you say to my husband?"
yet another silent response.
she took a step to the left, Mercury took a step to the right and blocked her. he was blocking her path.
'shoot. i don't have Cresent Rose.'
she caught a cocky and shit-eating grin appear on Mercury's face when Oobleck's echoed voice asked if the fighters were ready to begin. Ruby was running out of time. she had to get past Mercury now.
"show time."
Ruby grit her teeth and moved forward, shifting her feet left and right to try and get past, yet mercury remained vigilant. blocking her path with each step to the side himself. so her last resort was to try and use her semblance to rocket past. and first it seemed possible, she sped towards Mercury with speed unseen to the naked eye, yet a boot to the stomach quickly knocked her out of her semblance's speed and 'form' before another quick kick rocketed her backwards.
now sitting on the floor, she grabbed her scroll and went to use it.
*BANG!*
her scroll was shot out of her hands. she was alone with no way to ask for help now.
"lets just keep this between us friends."
Ruby quickly stood up and balled her fists.
"i' m not your friend. especially not after what you did to my husband."
he smirked. "i didn't do anything."
"you did something." she swiftly responded. "i'm not an idiot!"
without Cresent Rose she was forced to evade Mercury's every attack, which was proving harder than she thought. she had to get past him, get an opening and-!
a fist rocketed over her shoulder as Mercury's foot almost made contact with Ruby's face. the fist connected to the leg and stopped it right in it's tracks,
she looked over her shoulder, wondering just who came to her aid.
"(Y/n)!"
the faunus was standing right behind her, yet didn't even cast her a single glance. Ruby moved out of the way and (Y/n) walked forward a single step.
Mercury moved away.
Ruby stared at her husband, who stared Mercury down. if looks could kill, Mercury's soul wouldn't exist. she watched as (Y/n) unballed his fists and flexed his hand, cracking every single bone he possibly could in it before doing the same with the other. then he cracked his neck.
