it was quiet, even the birds had stopped their songs.  the sky was a mixture of a orange and navy blue, no doubt the sun was rising. the wind cast a casual breeze through the area, not enough to make one shiver.

you stood there next to Ruby, the girl there in silence as she stared down. the both of you were standing infront of a incredibly important to her, therefore it was just as important to you.

it was the grave of her mother, Summer Rose. you've heard quite a bit about her from Tai. Summer seemed like a wonderful woman, and you would have loved to meet Ruby's mother. but evidently, that wasn't possible.

you cast a glance Ruby's way, watching your wife stand there in utter silence. she wasn't upset, you could tell, she was just there, her hands clasped together in the form of a prayer.  you would have joined in on this, much to Ruby's happiness when she gave you a quick look.

eventually, Ruby lowered her hood after unclasping her hands, her cape calmly swaying in the wind. a bittersweet smile adorned her face for a moment, but it become a sweet smile when she felt your hand grab her own gently.

"hey mum..." Ruby spoke, looking down at the stone near the cliff's edge. "sorry i haven't come by in a while...i've been very busy..."

she stopped and paused for am moment before standing up straighter the tiniest amount.

"oh! dad and )Y/n)'s here too! you remember (Y/n) right? he's my husband." she spoke, her voice laced with love and affection when the words left her lips. "and dad is...well he's dad."

your heart swelled as you listened to your wife talk, feeling her hand squeeze yours a little tighter. in response, you did the same an curled your tail around her waist into a soft embrace.

"dad still teaches at signal, but i hear he's going on a mission soon! i think he misses going on adventures with you.."

Ruby's eyes watered up a little, something you noticed. it was clear to you that she was attempting o hold something in. with your free hand, you lightly ran your thumb along her face, wiping the tears that would have begun to form before rubbing her cheek.

"i miss you too..." she then spoke, once more growing silent.

hearing those words threatened to shatter your heart. but you remained strong for Ruby's sake. the emotional toll Ruby's facing was large, and you knew that. you yourself couldn't break when she needed you to be her rock right now.

"i...i'm still in Beacon.. i haven't been kicked out...nether has (Y/n)! he's definitely one of the reasons i'm still in...helping me with my homework and all, as he always does.." she paused once more. "I also think being on a team wit Yang helps. i keep her in line."

Ruby softly giggled to herself.

"that was a joke Yang's actually a really great fighter. now that i think about it, (Y/n) actually keeps me in line...you know me! always running around and geeking out over weapons. so he's always there to make sure i behave." she looked at you. "i couldn't have asked for a better husband."

she turned her attention back to the grave.

"i'm the leader of a team. it's called Team RWBY!...yeah it can be pretty confusing. the 'W' stands for Weiss and the 'B' stands for Blake. their my other teammates. yeah (Y/n) isn't on my team unfortunately. i would have loved for him to be, but because he isn't i made many more friends than i expected."

you felt Ruby's thumb glide along the back of your hand.

"i've met some...odd teachers in Beacon, but their all very nice. well, Ms, Goodwitch is strict but i believe she's nice. (Y/n)'s told me she is and i believe him. oh right! i've also stopped some bad guys too! i'm just like you, right mum?"
