a pair of eyes blinked open. the person who had just woken up had the strangest dream they could have possibly had. it made no sense. yet it intrigued them greatly.
because it didn't feel like just a dream. it felt real, like they were actually there. but out of everything, that's not what intrigued her the most, that's not what she wanted to figure out the most out of everything from that 'dream'. within the dream itself, there was always something different.
i mean, she met versions of herself! she met a version of herself that was a faunus and also mute! but she also met an older version of herself...one who swore. and drank. but again, that wasn't the most important part!!
in that weird room within the dream, there was always ome thing that was a constant between all 3 of...herselves? there was a boy. everyone but her knows that boy. why did she not? what was different that caused her to not know him?
but also the fact that he was her husband???! she couldn't believe it! that boy was her husband! in other universes or whatever! she again, that begs the question...why not her? why did she not know who he was yet everyone else did? Ruby didn't think it was fair. she felt excluded. she felt...she didn't exactly know how to describe it...left out? no, that's what excluded is.
she didn't understand this. why her? why only her in that room? what could be different in her world compared to the others that made it so you didn't exist? or rather didn't meet? did you even exist in this world? there were so many questions, but she didn't know where to start.
she wanted to figure it out, wanted to potentially kindle the relationship her other versions had. because all of them looked so so happy. even the older version that swore...and drank..all because he was dead in her world.
(Y/n) seemed to be a bringer of joy to versions of herself. and truthfully, she wanted something like that. she may say she doesn't need friends because she drinks milk, or tell her dad she's not looking for a boyfriend because she wants to be a huntsman, but she's lying. she really was.
his name lingered in her mind. she needed to keep a hold onto that name. it'll be her first step to finding out where he was.
"(Y/n)." the name left her lips naturally, almost as if it had been doing so for years.
she commit what he looked like to memory. he was an arctic fox. white hair, white ears and a white fluffy tail. everything she's learned is so valuable to trying to find him. even the fact he was mute. his eye colour, everything.
Ruby sat up, swinging her legs off the bed and getting off. she had to get dressed for school and wake her team up for the first class. but she'll keep it in the back of her mind. she'll find (Y/n), she'll figure out why she didn't know him long before hand! just like her own versions did!
and she'll make friends with (Y/n)!

"does Ruby seem off to you today?" Yang asked, whispering to Jaune who sat a few seats away.
team RWBY had noticed how strange their leader was acting today. she was always so bubbly and energetic, but for the very first time, she was calm and had her head down in her book. she even looked deep in thought! and no offence to Ruby, but that isn't actually very often in class. she always looks so confused.
"now that you mention it..she does." he replied, looking over at the thinking girl. "maybe she just wants to study hard?"
"that dolt can't study hard even if she tried." Weiss quickly responded, shaking her head with folded arms. she had seen Ruby try to actually study. honestly it baffles her how so academically not gifted someone can be in Beacon academy of all places.
