she felt (Y/n) slightly slide down her body, his arms losing it's grip around her.
"(Y/n)? honey?" Ruby softly asked, a single alarm bell ringing inside her head.
she quickly tilted his head back and let out a huge sigh of relief. his eyes were closed. but he was fine. he was just asleep. perhaps he exerted all of his energy? she was just glad it wasn't something else entirely otherwise she'd be full on panicking.
------
(Y/n) sat alone. watching people walk past him without a care in the world. going to stalls and getting food. after waking up earlier on in the day, (Y/n) told Ruby he's going out for some fresh air, and that he needed some time alone.
little did he know, Ruby was still there. but hidden away where he couldn't see. (Y/n) let out a slow and shaky breath. it had taken him awhile, but he's come to terms with what's happened. or rather he believes he has.
his parents were more than likely dead. murdered, but not by grimm like he would expect due to their occupation, but murdered by one of the very people in this school here for the Vytal festival.
'that damned grey haired son of a-!'
(Y/n) took another breath. he needs to calm down. can't allow any anger to overcome him. that's...not what his mother and father would have wanted for him. and this isn't him speculating their thoughts, they straight up said it to (Y/n) before.
thinking of them made him sad. depressed, even. it had shattered him, crushed his very heart. he couldn't believe they could be dead. they were the best huntsman he ever known....and their light was taken by someone way too soon.
he looked down dejectedly at the floor. staring blankly at his boots. He placed his hands over his face and took another deep breathe.
"excuse me? mister?" a soft, childish voice spoke.
(Y/n) looked up. infront of him, a small girl no older than 5 stood over him, a white rabbit plush in her hand and some sweets in the other. she barely stood face level with you. you wondered why she was here. what she wanted. was she lost or something?
your question was answered when she held her plush with her arm and grabbed a lollipop from her other hand, moving it in your direction. she was handing you some sweets.
"Please don't be sad!" she spoke giving you a smile of innocence. "you're too cool to be sad!"
you blinked. what could that mean? you assume she watched your fight if she's saying that.
"lollipop's make me happy when i'm sad, so i'm giving you one."
you took the lollipop from her hand and stared at it. then, suddenly, out of the blue, her small hand petted your head twice.
"i don't like being sad. so please don't be sad. everyone will like it more when you're happy!"
you once again looked over at her. she then wrapped her hands around your figure and gave you a hug before letting go and running off to her parents who watched a few feet away. the entire interaction gave you pause. a moment to think. a random girl just came up, gave you a lollipop because you were sad and politely asked for you to be happy. giving you a hug then leaving as if it was the most natural thing ever.
your gaze once more travelled to the sweet in your possession and for the first time since waking up...a soft smile appeared across your lips.
'thank you.'
------
"have any of you seen (Y/n)?" Ruby asked, peeking into your Team's dorm room.
Alice and Claire were the only one's in the room, one just barely managing to shove their top back on right before Ruby peeked all the way inside the room.
