Chapter 12

After laughing uncontrollably for a solid minute straight, Yeonjun finally calmed down, clearing his throat.

"Phew, I'm gonna need to get myself some water," he muttered.

"Well, there's plenty of water outside. And in the faucet."

Yeonjun grinned, and stood up from his crouched position to grab himself a glass of water.

"Did you perhaps play in a chess club or something?" Beomgyu asked as he did.

"I did. But only because my parents signed me up for it, it wasn't exactly my choice."

"Oh."

I've had that.

Yeonjun nodded curtly.

"Yeah. This is the first time I've really had fun playing this game... thanks for that."

Beomgyu had no idea why he was feeling shy all of a sudden. Was it just because Yeonjun said thank you to him?

"Say..." Yeonjun began.

"Yeah?" Beomgyu asked, giving him his full attention again.

"Have I shown you my film camera?"

"Your what?"

Just a minute later, Yeonjun returned from upstairs with a little pouch bag. He unzipped the lid, and took out a little film camera, before sitting down beside Beomgyu on the couch.

"Here."

Yeonjun turned the camera on, carefully placing it in Beomgyu's outstretched hands.

"Press the button here to scroll through them," he said, pointing to a red button on the side.

Beomgyu nodded, and began to scroll through the photos.

"Wait a damn minute..."

He looked closer.

"Are these all from the island?"

"Mhm!" Yeonjun smiled.

"How many did you take?!"

"A lot. There was so much to see after all."

You're not wrong about that.

Most of the pictures in Yeonjun's gallery were of the island, the ocean, the scenery and also some cute or exotic animals he found along the way.

"Do you take your camera everywhere with you?" Beomgyu asked.

"Yep. Not just for science research purposes, although a good chunk of it takes up my gallery."

"Woah... they look cool though."

Yeonjun smiled at the compliment.

"Why thank you."

Beomgyu continued scrolling through the film camera, impressed by the quality and lighting. There also were some pictures of Yeonjun taking different poses, looking stunning as usual.

What— he can admit that Yeonjun was an attractive guy without a problem, can't he?

"Oh."

Yeonjun tried to hide the embarrassed laugh in his throat, but the way his face bloated up was unmistakable.

Because some photos in his gallery were... of Beomgyu.

Actually, quite a lot were random pictures of him.

"Were you stalking me?" Beomgyu asked, half annoyed, half calm.

So Yeonjun didn't exactly panic.

Not much at least.

"Sorry. But you looked nice on those days, I-I had to photograph you."

Goddamit I really have no excuse for just wanting to photograph you cuz you're pretty.

Beomgyu didn't miss the stutter in his voice, but chose to not mention it.

"They look good," he decided to say.

And that was the truth.

Yeonjun did take good pictures of him. One when Beomgyu was at the beach measuring the wave lengths, the other when he was cleaning the dishes, and one when he was sleeping in Yeonjun's bed.

That one, by the way, was actually his personal favorite.

"How long have you had your film camera?" Beomgyu questioned.

"I bought it when I was 16. Ever since then, taking pictures has been a hobby of mine. I like capturing memories into pictures, so whenever I feel sad or lonely, I can look at them and remember the good times. If I have some extra cash on me, I print them out, and either hang them up in my room, or keep a photo in my wallet."

"That's pretty cool."

Yeonjun smiled.

"Thanks. Maybe I'll put a photo of the two of us in there."

Beomgyu returned the smile, gazing at Yeonjun's eyes.

"I'd love that..."
