"Choi Yeonjun, CEO's office please," the dreaded loudspeaker announced.

Yeonjun sighed, and saved the word document before exiting the app.

"Here we go, I'm about to be fired."

A week had gone by since he came back to work, and he had yet to await a response from his CEO on his island expedition report.

So if there was one way to describe the pasts even days, it was nerve wrecking. This could either go really well, or really badly.

Guess it's time.

Yeonjun had no idea what to expect, not as he stood up from his desk, and walked out of his office, into the elevator, up a few flights, and certainly not as he knocked on the door.

"Come on in," Miss Lee's voice drifted from her office.

The ravenette pressed the door handle down, entering the room. He quickly scanned her desk— no signs of firement papers anywhere so far.

"Hello Yeonjun," she greeted him.

"Hello."

"Have a seat, will you?"

Yeonjun nodded and sat down in the chair across her desk, fidgeting with his sleeves beneath the table as Miss Lee opened a file on her computer, before folding her arms and looking straight at him.

"What is it?" he questioned.

"I wanted to talk to you about your research."

"Oh."

Yeonjun tried to not make the tapping of his foot obvious, but the office was as dead as a mouse— cut him some slack, he was uncharacteristically nervous right now.

"I apologize for how lackluster and short the report was, I unfortunately—"

"Yeonjun, I read your report, I know."

I should just shut up.

"But that's the thing with expeditions. You never know how much you'll find when you enter uncharted waters," Miss Lee chided him.

"Right..."

A warm smile crossed her features.

"You were probably nervous I was going to fire you, weren't you?"

"Well... admittedly, yes," Yeonjun shyly responded.

"Believe me, there are a number of young scientists like you who thought the same after I called them in after their first solo expedition. I'm sure you're not the only one who felt this way."

"Yes... it still feels unreal to me that I actually went on my first one, and really, I feel honored that you chose me."

It's true. Yeonjun was in fact thinking about this intensively during the days spent readjusting— this was huge.

He went on a solo expedition, all by himself (until he met Beomgyu of course, but he still was all alone, nobody from his company was with him), something any scientist could only dream of.

It just didn't fully hit him until it passed, and he was submitting his report.

"The joy was mine. Anyway, back to business," Miss Lee reminded him.

"Oh, yes, of course."

She clicked on another file, opening to his PowerPoint presentation.

"Although the information presented was limited, I was rather intrigued by what you found, and your imagination once again, so I found it quite interesting."
